Bayern on winning run against Hannover

Postby FCBayernNews » Sat Dec 15, 2018 10:05 am

Matchday 15 of the Bundesliga sees FC Bayern travel to Hannover (kick-off 15:30 CET), which has been a happy hunting ground in recent years for the record German champions, who have won the last five meetings between the two sides at the HDI Arena. Another triumph on Saturday would be historic, as no other Bundesliga club have win six consecutive games at Hannover. fcbayern.com has all the other important facts and figures on the match:

Record clearly in Bayern’s favour

Hannover 96 and Bayern München are meeting for the 57th time in the Bundesliga. With 39 wins to Hannover’s nine (eight draws), history is clearly on FCB’s side. Indeed, the record German champions have won each of the last 11 encounters in the top flight. Werder Bremen are the only side against whom Bayern currently have a longer winning series (16). Furthermore, the Lower Saxony outfit have suffered more defeats and conceded more goals (154) against Bayern than any other club.

Top tacklers

Bayern lead the way when it comes to tackling in the Bundesliga this season, winning 54 per cent of their challenges. Opponents Hannover, in contrast, have the lowest score of 48 per cent.

Heads above

As well as tackling, Niko Kovac’s side have been characterised by their strength in the air this season. The Reds have already registered six headed goals in the league this season, more than anyone else. Robert Lewandowski netted the latest with his opening goal in the 3-0 win over 1. FC Nürnberg last wekeend.

Müller’s favourite opponents

Thomas Müller particularly likes playing against Hannover, having scored nine times in 14 Bundesliga games against them. Werder Bremen are the only other side who have been ‘Müllered’ as often. Bayern’s attacking stalwart has been particularly successful against the 96ers in recent meetings: he’s been involved in at least one goal in five of the last six, racking up six goals and two assists.
