Bayern lodge appeal against UEFA verdict

Bayern have not given up hope of fielding captain Oliver Kahn in the Champions League quarter-final first leg fixture away to AC Milan just over a week from now, after the Munich club lodged an appeal on Monday against a one-match suspension handed down by a UEFA Disciplinary Committee last Thursday.

"The board and the player have today decided to appeal. The appeal will be lodged with the UEFA appeals panel today, Monday 26 March 2007, before the applicable midnight deadline," the club announced in a news release.

The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Committee banned Kahn for one club competition match and ordered him to pay a 20,000 Swiss franc fine after finding the 37-year-old guilty of "improper conduct" at the post-match doping control after the Champions League Round of 16 return leg against Real Madrid. The player and the club examined the written reasons for the verdict on Monday before deciding to proceed to an appeal. The result of the appeal is expected by early next week at the latest.

I'm not sure if his suspension will be overturned. If he did throw his urine on the doctor than I don't see why they would overturn the decision.

I've heard throwing drinks on someone but not urine. Only Kahn can do something like that.

AFAIK, he threw the urine on the floor not at the doctor. I still disagree on suspending him for something that happened off-field. Fine him yes, but not suspend him. I wouldn't agree on a suspension even if he had almost killed the doctor.

I heard he through it at the doctor. We might never really know what happened that faithful night.
