All clear for Rafinha: 'Nothing broken'

Postby FCBayernNews » Fri Nov 02, 2012 10:20 am

It was the shock of an otherwise perfect night of DFB Cup action: An aerial challenge with Kaiserslautern's Mohamadou Idrissou on 74 minutes left Rafinha prostrate on the deck. FCB club doctor Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt treated him for several minutes before the Brazilian had to come off. He clutched his left shoulder with pain etched on his face. The incident brought back memories of Bastian Schweinsteiger's collarbone fracture one almost a year ago to the day. Thankfully, Rafinha received the all-clear overnight.

"The shoulder still hurts at the moment but it's not serious," tweeted the right back shortly after the midnight hour. And he was back on the training ground the next morning. Rafa completed a regeneration session (running, football tennis) alongside the starting eleven from the previous evening and then told "Fortunately, nothing's broken."

3,000 fans at the Säbener HQ

And there was good news of Franck Ribéry. The France international, who has been in light training due to a muscle problem and was rested for the Cup game against Kaiserslautern, took part in full training on Thursday (All Saints Day). Daniel van Buyten, recently sidelined due to a bruised rib, was back in the thick of it. "It's all ok again," reported the Belgium defender to

Around 3,000 fans at the Säbener Straße training ground were able to see all the FCB pros who did not appear or only played for part of the game against Kaiserslautern as they went through passing and positional drills before playing a practice match. The session ended with the Bayern heroes fulfilling countless request for autographs. The only players absent from Thursday's session were injured pair Holger Badstuber (torn muscle) and Lukas Raeder (torn cruciate).
