7 stats on the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt

Postby FCBayernNews » Fri Oct 23, 2020 11:55 am

FC Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt meet for the 99th time in the Bundesliga when they take to the pitch at the Allianz Arena on Saturday (kick-off at 3.30pm CEST). The Munich club have the advantage in the head-to-head with 54 wins to just 22 defeats. Here are some of the best facts and figures ahead of the latest edition of this classic fixture.

1. One home win short of record

Bayern have beaten Frankfurt 40 times at home in the Bundesliga, which is a league record together with FCB’s tally against Hamburg. It means that should the record champions be victorious again over Eintracht, it will set a new best mark in the league for wins at home against a single opponent.

2. Impressive home run against Eintracht

The treble winners have won each of their last 12 competitive matches at home to Frankfurt, including 11 in the league. That is currently Bayern’s longest winning run at home to a current Bundesliga club. All told, FCB have won 32 of their last 37 games against Eintracht in Munich. The last time the visitors came to the Bavarian capital and left with three points was almost 20 years ago, when they claimed a 2-1 win at the Olympiastadion in November 2000.

3. Scoring machine keeps going

Bayern have scored 17 goals over their first four league games of this season, equalling the Bundesliga record set by Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1967/68. A whopping 12 of those have come in the two home fixtures alone. The only club to ever top that tally was opponents Frankfurt, with 13 goals in 1976/77.

4. Goals guaranteed

Bayern have found the net in 22 of their last 23 Bundesliga matches against Eintracht, with the 0-0 draw in Frankfurt in October 2015 the only blank. The last encounter saw the champions claim a comprehensive 5-2 win in May of this year.

Bayern’s first home game after May’s restart saw Hansi Flick’s side record a 5-2 win over Frankfurt.

5. Welcome visitors to the Allianz

Eintracht Frankfurt are yet to leave the Allianz Arena with three points since it opened in 2005. Bayern have won 13 of their 14 home league games against the Eagles (1 draw) in that time by an aggregate scoreline of 45-8. FCB have only won more matches in the Allianz Arena against Wolfsburg (14).

6. Frankfurt in good form

Eintracht arrive in Munich unbeaten this season, with two wins and draws apiece in the league. They are in fact without defeat in their last eight matches across multiple seasons (5 wins, 3 draws).

7. Two top goalscorers face off

Robert Lewandowski has scored 16 goals in the Bundesliga since the restart in May, which is by far the most of any player. His nearest challengers are Frankfurt’s Andre Silva and Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramaric with 11 apiece.
