Postby FCBayernNews » Tue Mar 24, 2020 4:55 pm

FC Bayern and large parts of the sporting world currently find themselves in anenforced break due to the spread of the coronavirus. With play at a halt, it gives us the chance to look back on some impressive displays by the record champions, who are on a 15-match unbeaten run in all competitions, winning all since mid-December apart from a 0-0 draw with RB Leipzigin the Bundesliga. fcbayern.com has picked out some of the best facts from the 2019/20 season.

1. Champions League group stage record

FC Bayern became the first German club to win all six of their Champions League group games, following in the footsteps of Real Madrid (twice), Spartak Moscow, AC Milan, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Learn more about FCB’s historic group campaign:

2. Sharp-shooter Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski set a new Champions League record by scoring four goals in the space of 15 minutes in the 6-0 win at Red Star Belgradein the group stage.

Find out what Lewandowski himself had to say about the game:

3. Durable Davies

Alphonso Davies has started every match for the Bayern first team since making his full senior debut in October’s 2-1 win at home to Union Berlin. The Canadian teenager has missed just 37 minutes of action in the 24 competitive matches since.

4. Denied by the woodwork

The Reds have struck the post or crossbar 16 times this Bundesliga season, which is the most of any team in the league, five more than Hoffenheim in second. The most unfortunate player has been Serge Gnabry, who’s hit the frame of the goal four times. Five players follow in second with three, including Philippe Coutinho.

5. Scoring run to the last 16

Bayern scored 24 goals in the group stage of the Champions League, setting a new club record. The only team to ever net more was PSG in 2017/18 (25).

6. King of speed

Kingsley Coman became the fastest recorded Bayern player since detailed data collection began in 2013/14 when he was clocked at 35.7 km/h (22.2 mph) in the 3-2 win at Paderborn matchday 6.

7. Zirkzee steps up

Joshua Zirkzee scored his first Bundesliga goal just moments after making his top-flight debut to give FCB a 2-1 injury-time win at Freiburg.

Joshua Zirkzee needed just 26 minutes for his first three Bundesliga goals. Only Dortmund’s Erling Haaland has ever reached that total quicker in the league (24 minutes).

8. How may I assist you?

Thomas Mülleris the Bundesliga’s leading assist-provider in 2019/20 with 16, which is a new personal best for the 2014 World Cup winner. It is also a record after 25 matchdays since detailed data collection began in 2004/05, together with Kevin De Bruyne in 2014/15.

9. Gnabry follows Gomez

Serge Gnabry became the second German player after Mario Gomez (also for Bayern) to score four goals in a single Champions League game as FCB demolished Tottenham Hotspur 7-2 in London. The forward’s two goals in the last 16 at Chelsea mean all six of his European strikes this season have come in the British capital.

Relive an incredible evening in London:

10. 2,500 Bayern goals in Munich

Robert Lewandowski’s goal to put FCB 3-0 up in the 4-0 win over Dortmund was the record champions’ 2,500th home goal in the Bundesliga. By pure coincidence, it was the 2,500th Dortmund had conceded in the league.

11. Pure attacking power in Europe

Bayern have had 166 shots on goal in their seven Champions League games this season, which is the most in the competition. The German champions also boast the best attack with 27 goals.

12. At home in the opposition box

FCB have averaged 44 touches per Champions League game in the opposition penalty area, which is more than any other team in 2019/20.

13. Attack in full swing

The Munich club have scored 73 Bundesliga goals at home this season. Only Bayern themselves have ever scored more after 25 matchdays in the league, netting 74 in 1973/74 and 2013/14.

14. Lewy in top European form

Lewandowski bagged 10 goals in the Champions League group stage, which is second only to Cristiano Ronaldo in the competition’s history (11 in 2015/16). His goal in the last-16 first leg at Chelsea saw the Poland international set a new personal best in the Champions League.

A look at the numbers behind Lewandowski’s sublime first half of the season:

15. Unstoppable Robert

Lewandowski also set a new Bundesliga record by becoming the first player ever to score on each of the first 11 matchdays.

16. Müller’s milestone against Dortmund

Müller became the first player since detailed data collection began in the Bundesliga in 2004/05 to reach 100 assists when he set up Gnabry for the second goal in the 4-0 win over Dortmund. He added to his tally shortly afterwards when he assisted Lewandowski for the third goal.

17. Neuer’s landmark win

Bayern’s 4-0 win at home to Dortmund in November was Neuer’s 250th in the Bundesliga. As an FCB player, the goalkeeper has recorded 280 victories in 373 competitive matches.

That victory over Dortmund was also the 250th in Manuel Neuer’s Bundesliga career. He’s now moved on to 261, which means he only trails former Hamburg man Manni Kaltz (291) and Bayern legend Oliver Kahn (310).

18. Alert from the start

Bayern have scored 15 of their 73 Bundesliga goals in the first 15 minutes of matches this season, which is by far the most in the league. Bayer Leverkusen trail in second with 10 goals.

19. Ball magnet Thiago

No other player with at least 10 appearances this Bundesliga campaign averages more touches of the ball per 90 minutes than Thiago(108). Joshua Kimmich is just behind with 106.
