Ah, so that was their ploy...

Maybe they should do like that Maltese professor suggested and hand US Lampedusa if THEY don't want to do their duty. ;)

I remember the stories about laughing and mocking Polska, Češka, Slovačka in the 90's, 80's from Croatian side. I wonder who's laughing now - Croatia is the worst EU country and the worst among Slavic countries in EU. :)

Everyone surpassed us while our politicians have been blaming the war in the 90's and 2008 financial crisis. They didn't do a damn thing in the last 27 years except the damage, robbery, treason, sold everything what is/was worth for a bonus, put us into a feudal-ottoman-socialist way of living with the worst capitalist elements.
Our leading politicians don't blame themselves, but everyone who criticizes them. No justice, no free-market economy, no low taxes, one of the world's biggest and most expensive state, regional and local administrations on the world that collects only parasites, criminals, thieves to do nothing except demanding for a bribe and sell pathetic, empty phrases. :|

American Great Depression is nothing compared to Croatia.

Ireland is the fast growing economy in Europe, and it had a pretty strong economy in those early years too. They've recovered really well after being hit so badly by the recession, from what I read (I know nothing about how the economy works)

Ireland has been a promised land for Croats over the last 6-7 years, especially those one from my hometown and the whole region.

Population is constantly growing, foreigners from Poland, Croatia, Brazil, etc... Some Irish returned home from abroad, however, huuuuge number of Irish despite the very positive economic growth and reforms left the homeland and moved to the USA, Canada, Australia.

All in all, their last 8 years are simply impressive when you take into a consideration what they went through. Three years in row, between 2015 and 2017, they were the fastest growing economy in Europe.

Finally the mask from the NGOs' face is falling...
They are acting as a shuttle service... also gaining money from the traffickers...

Bastards...

All that I have been saying for yrs is revealing to be the truth...

Also most of my suggestions are being mentioned... such as opening centres in Tunisia and Libya where applications for asylum can be processed... either they are turned back or else transferred to Europe, and North America.

Also. Countries should have the right to refuse entry of those eligible

It really is remarkable how they're draining so much skill from other EU countries. Especially in the tech industry. Giants like Google, Facebook, Apple and so on are all based there in Europe (for tax reasons obviously ;) ).

I think Ireland is the next place (after the UK, Australia, the US, and Belgium/Luxembourg) where a Maltese community will be set up and this is mainly because of students. There's a relatively large number of exchanges of half a year or a year in Ireland in many humanities subjects in Malta, much higher than with any other country and probably at least one third of these fall in love with the country so much that they eventually move there at least for a short while. I also know some students from other subjects who go for further study there after hearing about it from friends who did these exchanges; not many, but again, higher than other places. As I've said elsewhere I'm thinking of moving myself for multiple reasons, education being one of them too although that's not until at least a couple more years.

The question is how many will stay and how many will come back after 1, 2, 3 years. With the rate Malta itself is going, it wouldn't surprise me if the majority stay there.
