It's in Rudolph Street, opposite that other 19th Century architectural gem Villa Alhambra designed by architect Galizia. Such fascinating architecture, a far cry from the concrete cubes sprouting all around them.

Do you mean replacing the Knight's Auberge d'Allemagne ? Unfortunately they were the masters then and it's a pity that Malta was their playground. Unfortunately this is one of the gravest vandalisms that they carried out, after all they were repeating what every conqueror did before them. You've probably seen those rusting knights cannons embedded in the rock by the sea to be used as pilings to tie boats mooring lines or heard about governor who decided to cover the ornate marble floor of a hall in the palace with parquet to have his ball room, or the wife have a leaf soldered on Neptune's jewels because the statue at the palace offended morals.
All in all I think that they were a lesser evil when you see how other masters treated their colonies and left them in far worse situation, even if we were to be absorbed by Italy, as we were for most of history before the arrival of the knights, I think we would have fared much worse. But who knows ?

Most probably the place beneath the cathedral were FC Bayern Munchnen visited may have been a remnant of the Auberge d'Allemagne

At least we still have the Auberge de Bavière :D

It is literally on the outskirts of Sliema. The next road is Gzira. Near Savoy.

I went there a couple of months ago as they were having a book sale. Nice place.
