Smoked Duck breast.
I wanted to post it before but forgot.

I know nothing special but I wanted to revive some threads

The duck looks very good. The rest of the plate could do with better presentation.

Was not aware that pomegranate and tea were this popular in Turkey.

I was watching a doc about the Maltese who live in Izmir

I always associated coffee but as the guy said it was the drink of the Ottoman Empire but as soon as they became Republic they diversified....

Hmmmm that pomegranate juice

Yeah tea is very much associated with Turkey just as it is with the Commonwealth countries. They don't drink it in mugs like us though.

I've recently become somewhat of a tea fan and try to have as many different varieties as possible. I also don't have a particular favourite and have tea however I feel like at the moment (type of tea, milk or no milk, honey or no honey...). Apparently this is very unusual.

I am not into tea...at all but when I seldomly do, I do it without milk, like the Turks (apparently only the Brits do milk, that is why I always say that they are the ones who ruined our food culture... as ours was just a med one and now it is mixed with no identity )

Well I’d say that mixing makes us more unique, although we didn’t import much from British cuisine tbh. We imported traditions more than food itself, such as tea time and Sunday roast (though not everyone does these).

I don’t know about homes but in coffee shops in Britain I’ve seen many people have tea without milk. It might not be such a mainstay for them anymore either. I think this might be due to a more health conscious generation.

You have a pt but ours was influenced by North African & Sicilian cuisine... that is Med ,a very healthy diet.

But pastry, preserves... and the bad things came when the tasteless Brits took over...

P.S on a diff note.... and a bit O.T
I have a historical question for you.
I studied hist but can't be sure on this....

Was Malta technically part of Italy when the French were sent away ?
Even though the Italians (King of Naples) did not intervene when the French came after toppling the Knights.

Remember we were given to The Knights kind of on loan....
We were still part of the Napoli / Sicilia which were themselves under the Reign Spain.
I might be saying an idiocy I know

I don’t know enough about local history to he able to answer such details but wikipedia says you’re right. Between 1800 and 1813 Malta was officially part of the Kingdom of Sicily but under British protection.

Gozo was independent between 1798 and 1801, although they recognised the king of Sicily as their monarch. Did you know this? Only just found it out from this search.

I did know about Gozo and a Priest was kind of their PM

And also that Brits took over officially in 1813 (exactly when the plague began )

But not that we were still kind of part of the Kingdom of Naples!!! Wow

I saw this as earlier this week so something which I posted here and got me thinking
