out of fun and curiosity I started Latin on duolingo...
Jeez how strange ,,, it is like Polish names are changed according to certain endings...
vocabulary is so and so thanks to my knowledge of italian and some french and some super basic spanish

Just learned that in Tunisia people say the numbers in French just like the majority of us Maltese who never say or write the numbers in our language.

I knew that. It's weird though. In Maltese it makes sense because English numbers have a more "logical" order than Maltese ones, since in Maltese we say them inverted to how you would write digits (e.g. five and twenty, not twenty-five) - just like German. But that's not true for French, who say things like "four twenties and eleven". :lol:

To be fair, it was Napoleon who introduced free education for all in Malta, so it wouldn't have been so strange had we kept French numbers haha.

This is incredible.... Spanish - Arabic - Maltese

The Spanish word Almacen...
I checked the meaning ... it means stores...

In maltese we say Mahzen !!!! It sounds almost the same...

This confirms that some Spanish truly derives from Arabic

I learned it a,couple of weeks ago.
Ok I knew that the Arabs Moors were there but never occurred to me that the language was indeed effected

Haha my understanding is that most spanish words begining with "al" are of arabic origin.

There are other similiarities between Spanish and Maltese with Arab roots, but I can’t remember them right now.
