Rebbigħat. The ‘ie’ becomes an ‘i’ because the ‘għ’ moves the stress to the final syllable.

@Dumbledore

I am following a local tv prog which consists of a group of ppl who take on an adventure in a foreign country. And this year's edition happened to be in your beautiful homeland.

I heard a market seller saying " Le " for no...
I googled it but found tidak and a no with an accent on the O (it could be the latter and it sounded like no in Maltese , LE)

P.s yest they visited a sulphur mine... my God how much they suffer in there....

Do you remember what region was mentioned for that market? "Tidak" is the proper Indonesian language translation, but "Le" is likely a local dialect (I'm certain I've heard it used as "no" too), possibly in Eastern Java. We've got hundreds of local, indigineous languages which are used almost exclusively in traditional countryside community bubbles so hearing that in a market makes sense.

Isn't there an Arabic influence on Indonesia (as a country, not sure about the language)? Could explain it.

Maltese vs Arabaic

I was wondering something : inshallah in Arabic - in Maltese we have the equivalent - '' jekk Alla jrid''
However I was wondering whether : '' sa mnAlla '' & '' imnAlla '' refers to the same thing and we now changed the meaning.

Remind me tonight and I will try to look it up for you as I'm too tired at the moment, but I think mnalla is a contraction of "minn Alla", from God. Its meaning is more or less "thank God" so I would guess it means something like "minn Alla ġie li..." (the decision to (X) came from God - i.e. that is why it turned out well that I did it).

@ramsej the etymology is as I told you. Inshallah would have led to you “jekk Alla jrid” and possibly “jalla” but mnalla has no relation other than that it also uses the word Alla. It’s a contraction from a purely Maltese phrase that in time became one word, like goodbye in English (God be with ye).

So it's not like Turkish and BiH Muslim say:

"If God gives/allows" // "Ako Bog da"

I see in GT the Croatian version translated in English says "God's willing". In our language we literally use the context "Božja volja" and it has a referent filter from the above phrase.
"Never back down. No surrender. If you wanna be the best you gotta take out the best!"
