How will we speak in 100 years? 90% of languages will become extinct because of migration, linguist claims

Dr McWhorter believes that there is a danger that speakers of languages only used by small groups, will stop passing them on to their children, because they don’t think they will be useful.

Unless the language is written down, once it skips a generation, it is all but lost.

Well said... but I hope they're not using the EU websites as a standard for Maltese versions. :)

I was in the barnsley fc website and I saw this vid.

The coach is German , and he went to a school where kids learn German (which apparently it is very unusual)

Haha, Trapp sounds like a French when he pronounces Croatian.

God, I'm dying to hear Neuer once in my lifetime speaking Croatian as well as singing. He admited that he speaks Croatian very well that he learned in Gelsenkirchen and knows to sing some Croatian songs. :D After all, Toni Tapalović, Ivan Rakitić and Mladen Krstajić are his friends and former teammates. :)

Yeah, that's 5-6 years old story. :) I don't know about last 3-4 years, but in the past he spent his summer vacation in Croatia, on Dalmatian coast.

Some good video to understand what Croats and very likely other Slavic people often do wrong when they speak English. :D I used to do some of these things 10-11 years ago because literal translation used to make sense during school days or help you to learn better and faster, but that was completely wrong.
It still can happen to me, especially with the thing on instead of at or on instead of about/of. :)

And we do have "it" in our language, not just he/she and his/her. Romance languages like Spanish and Portuguese have no "it", very likely French, Italian, Catalan, Valencian, Galician, too.

Enjoy it! Or... "Enjoy in him[the video]"

I believe that a couple of months ago we were discussing about how we Maltese say the numbers in English ...
This morning I was at the Hospital and of the receptionists (a Maltese) was speaking Arabic with an Arab Dr. but when the she was counting she counted in English!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #-o

and later I got a very pleasant surprise - a Chinese Nurse (with a Maltese Surname - as she must be married to a Maltese) spoke fluent Maltese! =D>

Hope all is well.

The ones who marry Maltese people do tend to try and learn Maltese.

I know of a young (still unmarried) couple where the Romanian guy speaks a bit of Maltese even though he has never lived here. They live in Germany and she is mainly English-speaking.
