A number of motorcyclists were lucky to escape serious injury yesterday when they skidded on diesel in the Sta Venera tunnels.
Some of them only just managed to avoid ending up under other cars, as the video above, recorded by one of the motorcyclists, shows.
"It felt like driving on ice," 25-year-old Ben Vassallo, who shot the above video told Times of Malta. "Oil is less dangerous - I've driven over it and managed to hold the bike upright."
Mr Vassallo, who has been riding his motorcycle for just over a year, said that it was the most hazardous incident he's been involved in so far, "but I've had more close calls than should be accepted."
Despite the shock - and damage to his motorbike - he said the incident would not put him off riding.
"I can't wait to fix up my bike so that I can get back to riding," he said.
David Schembri, another of the motorcyclists, wrote on Facebook: "When someone tells you "oh you bikers are nothing but trouble, racing and crashing! It's all your fault when you get hurt!" show them this video that happened to us this morning. This is the result of some selfish, ignorant and inconsiderate ... who spilled diesel on the road most probably due to not taking care of his vehicle! It was six bikes in total including myself that fell in the three minutes span that I was there trying to get my wits together!
"Malta Police, please take note! I know you already do your best!" [source]

I saw it, they were lucky to escape unharmed!

but I have a stupid question, how one can tell that his/ her car is losing petrol / diesel ?

This was this morning? I hope they cleaned up that shit because I need to pass from there. Anyway one time I was going into the Santa Venera tunnel exactly like in the video but much slower. The road was wet. As soon as I was entering the tunnel I pressed the rear brake. The rear tire locked and the steering started wobbling like crazy. Fortunately somehow managed to control it and without hitting any car. The shitty white paint they use for marking becomes very slippery in wet conditions.

I bet that this got Rooney so scared that he announced his retirement from the NT just to avoid coming over to Malta for the match.

Man who shouted ‘Allahu akbar’ outside Marsa church was praying for deceased, lawyer claims [source]

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him. He accepted to return to Italy voluntarily with a flight later today.

is he italian ? or the italian authorities are using the tactic of giving papers and money to the migrants in order for them to travel freely?
I am smelling a very dirty business going on..
I heard other stories of economic migrants who came here by plane directly from Italy!

“We were leaving the church with the coffin, heard some cries and the word ‘Allah’, and saw this man - clearly drunk - sitting on the road by the pavement,” Thomas Agius said. “When he saw the coffin, he took off his satchel, told us ‘Let me help you’ and in fact helped us load the coffin into the hearse. At no point did he say ‘Allahu akbar’ but in fact told us ‘Send him to heaven, Jesus is the one true God. He was probably a Catholic.” [source]

You're discussing the wrong thing. The shocking thing here is how it's possible for someone to end up in court for praising God just outside a Church. What is going on? If I say "Alla kbir!" outside the Church would I be arrested and taken to court as well?

Well, I'd be scared if I heard 'Alla kbir!' near the church...
