Unsurprising but good job by MITA. I really dislike Tony Sultana though. His son was at school with me and was always a huge Labourite. Nothing wrong with that of course but he's not the kind of person you can have a proper conversation with. He's the kind of person who honestly believes nothing good happened in Malta between 1987 and 2013, which honestly, irrespective of your political beliefs (I for one wanted Labour to win in 2013, although I missed the election by 2 days) is just a stupid thing to believe. I'm sure his father, who (what a coincidence!) got this extremely well paying job at MITA almost immediately after Labour got elected, is no different.

When A is elected, the extra votes above the quota are transferred. This means there's a chance that my vote won't be transferred but MUTU's will, meaning that C gets a vote while B doesn't.

I'm not sure how which ones get transferred is determined but unless I'm wrong about how it works, it's not fully representative. That said in Malta the #1 votes are the most important as they determine the election irrespective of who follows

If it was for me I will change the whole thing.
This to avoid corruption before and after the election.

The electorate will be given a list of parties to choose from with only the flag of the parties to be seen on the given ballot.
Then the most ticked party will win the election...
Then the PM will choose his cabinet to his liking

This is less democratic though. With the current system the people elect every single MP, and more importantly, we have the option to vote cross-party, picking individuals rather than parties. Unfortunately, not many people do so. But take me for example. My main priority at the moment is getting rid of the current administration, so I feel I have no choice but to give my #1 vote to a PN/PD coalition candidate. But if I choose to do so, I can then give my #2 vote to an AD candidate without having to fear that my vote will help the current administration get re-elected, because in our system if a party gets over 50% of the vote (which is always) then it must govern, and the #1 vote counts there.

Btw I recently learned that apart from Malta, Ireland is the only country to use the single transferable vote system in general elections!

Definitely. The irony is that one of his son's best friends is Simon's nephew

You are right it is not 100% democratic.

Maybe I should bet. My prediction is that Forza Nazzjonali will win by 2k+ votes.

I missed only one, the marijuana one. There was also one which I didn't know both parties proposed but was aware one did.

anyone watched the last debate between the two leaders? I am afraid that the PM won the debate hands down!

Why? What were the main points? I read nothing new came up. Didn't even know there was a debate.

It was the last debate.
Simon kept saying the same things...
Joseph was all calm and focused and assertive and showed that he had a clear plan.

Story of the campaign. It's a shame, PN have some good proposals but didn't give them the attention they merit.

Unfortunately PL's plan comes at a very heavy cost
