Holocaust hairstyle? Well, I shave my hair but I don't understand what you are saying. Anyway moving these posts to the Maltese members thread.

Let me guess, written by a biased Maltese who heard stories from biased Maltese?

The facts are:

- there was violence and damage
- it started by the Maltese
- the innocent soldiers doing their jobs were vastly outnumbered and getting attacked
- they had to act in self-defence.

And then we call those who perished heroes. In reality, they got what they deserved. For me, the context is completely irrelevant. I'm just trying to put myself in the shoes of an innocent British soldier doing his job. The kind who, 100 years later, is still being insulted by ramsej84 and called a dog. For doing his job. For still not shooting after being insulted, beaten up, showered with stones, but only after being shot at from a window.

The real heroes weren't the Maltese protesters. They were the British soldiers.

As far as the soldiers doing their job goes, I can agree and have just posted something about it in the much more relevant history thread. :P You can’t really choose to understand the context of the English soldiers and ignore the context of the Maltese though.

As for the book, no it was an edited book so every chapter is by a different author. It had a range of views and among the contributors there is even a descendant of Anthony Cassar Torreggiani, whom you mentioned. Not even his descendant says those who died aren’t heroes. He just says we should remember all the victims of the events rather than only those killed by the British. :P it has a range of views, some arguing the events aren’t as important as they’re made out to be too.

I can when the original topic of discussion is whether or not those soldiers deserve to be called dogs by ramsej84 ;)

The Maltese having a right to protest is a completely different topic.

Anthony Cassar Torreggiani can probably be compared to a certain Sandro today, except the latter is much worse because he's spoiling Malta for generations to come. Still, I wouldn't condone people breaking into his home and destroying everything.

Well I would always favour peaceful protest over violent protest in the modern world except when it really becomes a life or death scenario (say, for example, I would condone a violent protest in North Korea).

He SHOULD be the target of protests though.

Thing is, if they were to go and destroy Sandro's house and someone gets shot, do you think they'd have a national holiday commemorating the event a hundred years later?

Yeah that is true although like I said I also disagree that it should be a national holiday, just don't think we should be ashamed of it.
