To varying extents but yeah. I'm sure English is not the worst out there. At least pronunciation and spelling aside it is a fairly simple language.

It doesn't happen in Maltese. If there's a word written correctly (which, admittedly, is a rarity if you're talking about written Maltese), then you can pronounce it perfectly even if you never heard the word.

I can think of one exception because of changes over time: Għargħur (gargur) vs għargħar (ah-rar)

Possibly there may be similar cases where the Għ and H are concerned (possibly a silent 'h' at the end of a word? But can't think of any) but I suspect you are right otherwise. The letters which change pronunciation are consistent depending on the number of syllables in a word or the letters before or after them (for example, the 'i' in "biċċa" and "ħin" sounds very different, but it sounds the same as "biċċa" in "niċċa", "żgiċċa" etc. and the same as "ħin" in "kif", "fik", "dik").

Għargħur isn't technically a word though, but the name of a town ;)

I'm sure there's some couple of exceptions, but in any case they're very rare. You just need to know all the Maltese pronunciation rules and you won't have any problems.

I wanted to cont. But then the boss came...

W.E want them to keep them poor, dependent and uneducated, so they will be easier to control and manipulated...
And also to to attract them here under the false promise of the Heavens they will find in Europe... only to be used as slaves by the rich.
