Thanks mate. We'll see... Feeling more confident now after speaking to my supervisor. Apparently I shouldn't be surprised if they spend most of the time talking or telling random anecdotes or fighting among themselves.

Does he know them well?

Like 80% of my oral state exam in history was the same... Buncha nice guys actually...

She and yeah, the local ones at least. The one external is always a random factor.

I'm also thinking it'll probably be a nice atmosphere. It's a fairly small department (both academics and students) and I have collaborated a lot with one of them work-wise. I'd say there's a fairly friendly relationship between us.

Yeah you'll be good... The "outsider" also was the one most critical in my exams - in hostory I didn’t take enough initiative for him - which I think is kind of a weird claim...
Was criticism on a high level though - couldn’t complain about the result... ;)

Thanks for your wishes guys. It went well - I got the top grade. :D

Didn't have to say much in the end. Most of it was this one guy saying something for 5 minutes, I respond, he stops me after one sentence to say the same thing for 5 minutes, over and over. He was too stubborn to understand how he was wrong but despite his conviction he didn't let it affect his opinion on the work apparently. The funny thing is even the other examiners were telling him he's wrong.

There are two kinds of people who are upset about that act:

1) Overly-conservative ones who believe that anthems are sacrosanct and disrespecting them is a step below treason. Needless to say that is a major overreaction.

2) The other half that hates self-righteous folks who hijack sports to push their agendas, therefore defeating its purpose (whatever those agendas might be)...
There is another form of competing between massive social groups that is much more suitable for politization - it’s called war.

Well it’s only politicization of sport as long as you chose to play the anthem before every game - which is fine IMHO, but definitely not a sport... ;)
I think a real democracy should stand this as much as it should the right wing idiots...

Dude..speak for your country here..don't generalize..
In many countries the right wing government has done a marvelous job and their nationalism has inspired the country to scale new hights..

Some countries have prospered under communism too..case in point..China

What is the ideology of the ruling party in germany?

Erm... I think China could be much, MUCH more prosperous... Workers there are still exploited a great deal...

Right wing governments don’t bring prosperity as well... Conservative ones on the other hand, you're kicking in open doors with me...

And while I was eyeing my own country too, no idea why that offended you... Charlottesville?
My point was democracy has to deal with a lot of things, even people trying to abolish it... Strong democracies can stand this kind of stuff...
