Malta's Health Minister.

You are an expert in the health field. When the world is faced with such a crisis, by when do you envisage a return to our ‘normal’ way of life?

‘Normal’ will change. Things will never be the same. The way this pandemic has affected the whole world’s society means that things will change.

In what way?
The way we do business will change, the way we travel will change, our interactions with each other will change, our interactions with neighbouring countries will change, the way we allocate resources, the way we make sure that our healthcare systems are resilient. All of this will change.

We have a new normal.

It sounds quite alarmist.

It’s not that alarmist, it might be for the better. When things change, they don’t always change for the worse. Often, they change for the better.

We have to make sure that changes we are forced to make, are direct towards making things better. A minor example: every minister goes to Brussels, probably two or three times a month for two-hour meetings. Because of the coronavirus situation, we’ve been having teleconferences now. They work perfectly.
If we continue to do this afterwards, we will save time, money, travel, carbon dioxide pollution. Things like this will accumulate and our life will be different.

The new coronavirus should be added to the list of pandemics regulated by Malta’s criminal code, which would allow authorities to jail offenders, a top criminal lawyer has argued.

Yeah I've seen those. But as I mentioned, they don't include all the unreported cases because of very mild symptoms. So it shouldn't be as bad as these numbers suggest.

But those people are people who never knew they had Coronavirus. As things stand, if 100 Italians test positive, 45 of those are expected to die. The people with very mild symptoms are actually the most dangerous because they're the ones who are more likely to spread it to others.

10 days later it hasn't improved much. Out of the closed cases in Italy, 44% have died and 56% have recovered.

He couldn't make it. When I heard he was positive on the virus, I knew his chances were so tiny to survive. :(

Descansa en paz, señor Sanz.

90 Maltese confirmed infected.

17 new cases

Edit.
Confirmed Malta is in a semi lock down.

All nonessential retail shops are closed.
Therefore I am without work...
We have been voluntary closed for the past wk but the Health Min just gave the news now.

Back to an exponential rise it is.

Hopefully the government announced more measures to help people who have to close down because what we have so far is very minimal.

I think anything close to "normal" in 2020 is utopian...
For example, I think we can be happy to see full soccer stadiums starting 2021/22...
