People in Malta went out onto their balconies and began clapping and cheering this evening, as a sign of respect for Malta's healthcare professionals.

A Facebook event had been set up for Tuesday 17 March at 9.00 pm for everyone to go out on their balconies and clap for the healthcare workers during these trying times. Indeed people from around the Maltese islands took a moment, went outside, and applauded the country's heroes. In Pembroke, some fireworks were even also launched. [source]

Did not know about this but I will applaud them from here. I know first hand how stressed my friends at hospital are right now, and they are not even in respiratory medicine or infectious diseases.

A virus killing especially the old people. It's quite suspicious that it's origin is China which has a problem with it's old aged people (Aging of China). Well I guess we will find out sooner or later.

As I mentioned above with the article I linked, the conclusion is tempting... However: why would they contain it then and not choose Boris' strategy? Why do you single them out? I mean, every western country has a weird old/young ratio...

New measures: leaving isolation is prohibited for people older than 65, and for everyone else between 20:00 and 05:00.

Europe is gonna suffer big time economically, but for now containing the number of fatalities should be the primary goal

I can’t understand the curfew. It’s not like you’re more likely to get infected at that time. In fact, if you close the bars and clubs and stuff, you’re probably safer at that time.

I suppose it’s supposed to mean that you can’t go out after the shops and offices close, but still kind of weird.

Bars are also closed, this measure is aimed at people who go to private parties and gatherings, I presume

I don’t mind these measures, people tend to be undisciplined
