Flick wont do it but we dont really need Kimmich vs Chelsea

We lost a Rafinha-level player and will play a top class right back instead. There's no version of this where we are disadvantaged.

So let me remind you. Pavard is a World Cup winner who started all games for France.

Plus we lost one man.... a man less at this stage is devastating

So are Höwedes, Özil and Khedira

Because Pavard is our standard first-team player and the only real RB we have this season.

His defensive game is very important for us and the position he plays.

I disagree... But let’s assume you’re right: fielding a player right out of injury is way riskier than playing Thiago and having an at least equally good replacement...

It really depends on how Barcelona line up on whether or not we 'need' Pavard or not. I agree Pavard is a good defender and IMO underrated, but he and Kimmich both have some particular qualities that should be valued differently in different situations...
I said it elsewhere, but if Barca line up in their 4-3-3 with Messi, Suarez, Griezmann - and that's what they've done for most of the UCL and season overall - then Kimmich and Davies should be able to take advantage of their front three's lack of defensive contributions more so than Davies/Pavard would. That should in theory offer Davies/Kimmich a lot of space to operate which would IMO work in our favor. If they put out more like a 4-3-1-2 or something then perhaps there is more a case made for Pavard there, but TBH it would surprise me if that's the case
