well it seems he is not 100% fit and bayern probably did not want him to over-stress himself
http://www.dfb.de/news/de/d-bundesliga/guardiola-ich-habe-keine-zweifel-an-schweinsteiger/45555.html
Google translation:
Question: Bastian Schweinsteiger is not nominated for the international match against Paraguay next Wednesday (from 20.45 clock, live on ZDF; note) in Kaiserslautern. Have you spoken to your meeting with coach Joachim Loew on Wednesday about it?
Guardiola: It was a pleasure for me to coach Joachim Loew know. It was very, very nice, very polite. I am happy about his coming. We talked about various topics, one of which was of course Bastian and his physical condition. We have no doubts about his qualities. He is one of the best players in the world. But he was more hurt than a month - it takes time to get a good fitness.

That's not really a problem, he got a knock in the previous match I remember limping off the field a bit & Gundogan is more than able to take his position even though he doesn't have the experience or the defensive skills but he is great as a playmaker!

I just can't wait to see the day where Bender or Rode or whomever will replace that damn Khedira from the NationalMannschaft. He runs like a headless chicken and barely does what he needs to do on the pitch, which is win balls.. Having an actual DM besides Schweini or Gundogan would be so much better for them!

In my opinion, this squad could win the world cup next summer...

---------------Neuer
Lahm-Boateng-Hummels-Schmelzer
-----Schweinsteiger-Bender
-------Muller-Gotze-Reus
--------------Gomez

Well it's always good for Bayern if Gundogan plays instead of Schweini in a useless game.

I doubt Gotze and/or Reus will overtake Ozil in the pecking order in the next year, same with Bender and even Gundo over Khedira. But I hope you are right if it implies not seeing a useless Podolski running around the pitch.

what a headache for Loew to select the attacking mids: Draxler, Ozil, Goetze, Muller, Reus, Schuerrle, Kroos. I agree with Jorge about the fact that Loew will stick with Ozil and Khedira for the World Cup; although I hope he keeps the doors open in those positions. I think the tough decision is on the the left now: Reus, Draxler and Goetze should be competing for that position. I have this hunch that Draxler is just gonna have an incredible season and claim this spot for the WC.

You can't rule out Loew copying the 4-1-4-1 (well to be fair he's used it before). It won't be the first time the NT adapts to Bayern.

It was 11 years ago that Kahn and Neuville helped Germany beat this side and face the US, such a long, long time ago.

Realistically this could look somewhat like this. Schweinsteiger as the deep build-up player. Khedira always plays some kind of box-to-box player under Löw and Kroos is the ideal man to orchestrate the attacks in central midfield...

Looks great...

However anything else but a 4-2-3-1 won't work. Wonder why? Because that's the only position in question for Mesut Özil and even though he never delivers in the important games he's part of Löw's plans.

And at the time, Roque Santa Cruz played against Klose and co, and history may repeat itself.

Looks good, except that Schweinsteiger, Kroos and Götze were not even called up.
