Holland had the worst defense after Ireland tactical and skillful wise IMO. Gomez struggled against a tighter defense (Denmark).

MUTU wrote:Klose seems much like Bayern-Klose than Germany-Klose from the short stints in which he played. He has played for over a half match if you add them up and I don't think he has even had one attempt at goal yet, despite playing against defences that aren't as deep as Greece's. He also came on when Germany were winning and the opposing defences had opened up as they needed to get back in the match. So far he has been even more disappointing than Podolski in my eyes. The in-form, younger Klose would have scored one or two goals by now.

Klose came in all games at the last 20 minutes when our team is just wanting to hold the ball and didn't care for giving a good pass in attack. He had some chances in the limited time he got, but it was more of a "stalling" time IMO.

Anyway, probably Loew will choose Gomez again, but I fear he will struggle against a tight defense.

An analysis of the game and tactics:

I don't agree with Sifakis though. He is very good goalkeeper, although this year he was absent in many games due to an injury.

According to Bild, Germany wins 11-0 if you compare the players 1 to 1:

http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball-em-20 ... .bild.html

Well, if football matches were decided by this, Greece would have never won a single game in 2004 (not the trophy itself) - or even Russia in group stage.

Good thing that the players and Loew keep a low profile and are not that arrogant as Bild writers.

Maybe Germany will also win 11-0 during the match :P

But seriously, INDIVIDUALLY Germany are better in every position even with their second team. But it is not the best individuals that win generally, but the best team. It is therefore useless to compare players unless the context is transfers to clubs.

BTW I am convinced Low will go with Gomez, but I expect Podolski going to the bench at halftime if he plays as he has with Kroos coming in to play next to Bastian in front of Khedira. Ozil and Muller exchanging wings. That can open up a tight defensive line.

I think Klose would be better choice against a defensive team. Also I think Oezil will benefit from this, as he seems to have better chemistry with Klose (with quick 1-2s) than with Gomez.

Oh dear. If he wanted to rest a player against the worst opponents that Germany will face through all of Euro 2012, they should rest Schweinsteiger so he is fit against England/Italy.

At this point I wish we at least had Cacau in attack.

[2012-06-22] Germany vs Greece

Postby Firefox1234 » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:57 pm

Klose connects with midfielders better than Gomez so this shud be a good game hopefully if he scores 6 goals he will beat Gerd Muller's all time German goal scoring record :D

holland had the worst defense in the tournament.it was a matter of luck for any little team to beat them as long they scored first and then stay back to defend.

overall greece is a better team than Denmark but this does not mean that greece can beat holland.also if you make the game hollad-Denmark 10 times more probably the dutch will win 9 to 10 games.its just a matter of luck and timing.

also don't forget that greece had clearly chances to end first in group a and avoid germany.scandal referee against Poland (referee suspended from the tournament ) ,disallowed goal against chechs, disallowed penalty and wrong yellow against russia.
