We managed to reached the CL finals and lost there only by pure luck, despite being the best team on the field.
I do not expect much of a bad impact in German NT as it is a different story anyway.
But with German NT we have to break the (almost same) curse of "always second, never first" we have until Euro 1996.
I think that we have a better squad than 2010, at least our defence is much better now.

Certainly. Ozil is also a better player and we have more depth. In the WC, for example, with Muller suspended we had to bring in Trochowski. We didn't really have a proper replacement for him or Podolski (the striker/winger hybrid player that Loew likes to use wide) but now we have Reus and Schuerle. Even if Ozil gets suspended we still have Goetze to cover his position. The big question mark now is on which side to play Lahm and who would take the other fullback position.

Someone has to do the job in midfield that Gustavo does, so Khedira, not Kroos.
