Let's be honest, with our without him Ger still lacks what's needed to be considered amongst the best.

many teams are currently better : Neuer - Kimmich - Goretzka - Muller - Werner - Sane - Serge and maybe Havertz can't do the difference.
France
Spain
Portugal
Italy
England
are all better

Lol. Italy...?

On paper, Germany is probably second best after France and that's it.

Let's out it this way... Is there any Italian player who would make it to the Bayern starting 11? Cause 8 of the best 11 Germans would definitely make it into our lineup... You know... Neuer, Müller, Gnabry, Sané, Kimmich, Goretzka, Süle (or Boateng) and Hummels.

Bayern just won the CL in overwhelming fashion. It is also widely regarded as the strongest team at the moment. It makes no sense claiming that Germany is weak while Bayern is at the top.

Germany is going through exactly the same problem that Bayern had slightly more than one year ago, and it isn't a personnel problem... The only major whole in the German x11 is the striker, but a good coach would find a solution for that (Reus, Havertz, some random Gladbach player, who knows).

As I said though, they rely on a unit, italy play as a team... they just die for each other

You didn't say that, but it is, in any case, the same I'm saying; it's a problem with coaching not personnel. If Germany were working anywhere near it's potential, Italy would have no chance whatsoever against them, because there is a tremendous gulf in individual class. The problem, though, is that Germany is severely underperforming and also that the coach is not even selecting the best available players for whatever reason.

And Neuer Süle Boateng Kimmich Goretzka Sane Müller and Gnabry don’t under Flick? Last season was the pinnacle of working as a team and those 8 should be the core of Germany. Add two fullbacks and a striker and you have a full squad lol.

Hahaha, tell me about them... chronic lack of top fullbacks and specially top strikers for the last 20 years is something that Germany seem not to care at all.
There's 83 million people and for 20 years we saw just Lahm, Arne Friedrich, Gómez, Kießling, Klose, Podolski, Kuranyi, Werner... so small number to highlight.
I could say pathetic for a great football country and world's 2nd best NT ever. Compared to one Uruguay who had Recoba, Darío Silva, Forlan, Suárez and Cavani in the last 20 years (3,3 million inhabitants), not good at all.

And when I recall the idea of moving fullback Lahm to midfield... pure perversion. :)

Just fantastic pool of GKs for the last 20 years, fantastic central and attacking midfielders both in quality and quantity, very good wingers with 4 broken who should have been great(Götze, Reus, Schürrle Draxler).

Bad CBs after 4-5 great defenders in 2010 and 2011 and 3 promising who haven't become great(Mustafi, Rüdiger, Ginter).
Strikers and fullbacks have been like Greek tragedy.

I don't think Germany has a problem with strikers. They might not have been fancy-pants, but Klose and Gómez did the job. Klose is actually the highest scoring player in WC history, so...

Maybe Moukoko will fill in as the next great striker.

Fullbacks are another matter. Bayern had actually found the best RB in the world and he was German... But somehow lost him tho, wonder how.
