I'd give a thought to Süle as DM, but it's too late now. Can't experiment so much on the middle of the tournament.

Yeah that one's a bit extreme but that's OK, Goretzka and Gundogan can play.

What do you think about the forwards? I think that changes there are very important.

Thomas, Ozil and Boateng MUST NOT start. Rely on reputations and the same thing that happened to Spain four years ago will happen to Germany.

Thoughts:
1. Werner is completely useless unless for counter-attacking. No presence in the box whatsoever and provides nothing to the passing game, and it even looks like he made Muller suffer from "I don't have a center forward to play off syndrome. Drop him.
2. Reus was kind of OK, while Ozil and Kroos actually did well as a double pivot.
3. Draxler was forgettable for most of the game and it seemed like we had no left flank.
4. Mario Gomez was initially forgettable but actually started playing well the minute Werner came off.
5. It barely seemed like Plattenhardt was playing
6.. Julian Brandt was in the game for only about 7 minutes but accomplished a lot.

Definitely, changes are required. Draxler starting is incredible, for instance. Should be third choice. Müller was disappointing, but if keep faith in him to the end of the tournament... Just, drift in more and leave the outside to Kimmich...

Werner didn't fit the tactics. Gomez if tactics can't be adjusted, Werner if they can.

The problem with Draxler is that there really isn't anyone else. Maybe Brandt I suppose, but is he that much better.

Also, as I told MUTU, for most of the game today Draxler was the only one in the box. He didn't really have any good chances but at least he was there, unlike Werner. Out of the forwards I think he would be the last one I'd drop based on this performance.

He's doing quite poorly at defending. Mexico had acres of space down his side every time they attacked... I'm wondering if he should actually play RB... He still has time to learn, though.

Brandt, btw, was quite impressive in his cameo. I'd like Bayern to sign him.

and the most radical:

- Müller must never play on the RW ever again! He doesn’t have it in him to impact a game from there. He has to stay central near the main CF.
- I really don’t blame Draxler today. It was as if him and Plattenhardt (the left flank) were deliberately being ignored by the rest of the players.
- Reus and Brandt have to start on the wings period!
- I think the time has come to throw in Goretzka into the mix. Khedira was just awful today!
- FOR GOD’s SAKE! PLEASE KEEP BOATENG OUT OF THE STARING ELEVEN! He is past his best and relying on reputations will result in Germany getting eliminated in the group stage.

True, Brandt mostly plays at RW for the NT, but for Leverkusen he is mainly a LW.

Granted, but would Rudy be any better? I think it's obvious that he's the backup RB.

Nah. I don't really think there is any choice other than Kimmich for Germany. I'm thinking more that Bayern should hedge that bet and get a young super talent for backup RB.

This result is a disastrous one for Die Mannschaft. No other way to spin it around.

I’m Müller’s biggest fan but he was diabolical today. Brandt did more in five minutes than him and Özil combined.

I said this before the World Cup that Löw’s favoritism could lead to Germany’s downfall and that is what seems to be happening right in front of our eyes. Boateng, Khedira and Ozil are in the starting eleven based purely on reputation. Thomas too is reaching those levels.
