We tried to get comments but #12 was unavailable; he was last seen hiding in Sri Lanka

What are you trying to tell me? As if this was an actual measurement of quality... And don’t act like Gnabry would’ve surely made it - there’s at least reason to doubt it...

Was with you until that last sentence. The selection of Gomez and Boateng proves that Löw very much is going on name recognition.

What is up with this Boateng bashing in every post? Löw would've been a huge idiot to leave Boateng at home.

Sure, he makes some mistakes (not as often as some would have you believe, he's great)... But do you seriously believe Rudiger is better? Seriously?

Mind you I wouldn't mind Hummels-Süle as I've said several times even for Bayern, but really, Rudiger?

When has Werner ever been used as a false 9?

I wouldn't know, I'm not his mother who watched every match he ever played in. He has the attributes that would make him a good false 9, methinks.

For starters Rudiger AND Tah are both currently quicker than Boateng and much more reliable physically than Jérôme. Also, Rudiger’s development at Roma and Chelsea in the last two years has been pretty good. I would’ve taken Hummels, Süle, Rudiger and Tah as the four CBs and Ginter as the back up RB. Tah could’ve been the unknown commodity and made his mark in this WC similar to Boateng back in 2010.

Götze was looking good near the last few weeks of the season for Dortmund so IMO he should’ve been selected ahead of Rudy.

But that’s all irrelevant now. Time to support Die Mannschaft and hope and pray for the 5th Deutsch Star!

He won't care as he sits on his fat paycheck of oil money but good to see the PL mercenary Sane miss out

According to Bild, these are the reasons Sane was excluded from the National Team (copied from reddit):

1. Poor performances for the NT (12 games, 0 goals, 1 assist)
2. Lack of ambition in training, which Löw already had noticed at the Euros 2016
3. Sane irritated Löw when he decided to get a Septoplasty rather than playing in the Confed Cup last year
4. Bad behavior in public. Example: After the friendly against England in 2017 he flipped off his teammates when they tried to get him to talk to the press for a bit
5. They also mention his tattoo

I'm not ready to see Hummels - Suele pairing yet again. If Boateng is not fit, then I'd go with Ruediger.

Why not? They more or less handled Real's forwards and they're unlikely to meet someone better in the world cup (I know they conceded goals, but you know what I mean :P)
