I have watched Juventus in a few big matches this season and he has been ineffective in midfield. In the Tottenham tie he was poor in both legs apart from a brief 20 minute spell at the Wembley (60th minute to 80th). If you take out Löw’s favouritism and selection is solely on merit then Can has a far better case than Khedira. Luckily for Khedira Juventus have quite a few big games left in this season so he can prove me wrong.

Re: Goalkeeper. I would be pretty surprised if Ulreich doesn’t get a call up in the upcoming friendlies. And sentimental reasons aside, if Neuer cannot return to Bayern training by late April then even his place in the final squad is in doubt.
Well, because everyone knows Löw sticks to his favorites. IMO it should be Gündogan or Göretzka, instead of Khedira. Can is bad too.

Can has been decent for Liverpool in midfield this season, better than Khedira has been for Juventus. Good for Juve they are getting him in the summer to replace Sami.

Gundogan and Goretzka (if they can both stay fit and in ok form) are very likely to be in the final squad.

And @PunkCapitalist - You said Spain don’t have a single top quality attacker? Really?
Isco is possibly one of the best Attacking midfielders in Europe right now. Costa is also a pretty good striker. Pedro is not bad either and then there is Asensio. I think those four are a formidable attacking force. If the Spanish midfield control the match and keeps making chances for these guys then they will be a very tough team to beat.

France might have the better forwards but overall I think Spain are the strongest opponent for Die Mannschaft.

Does Spain have any attacker at the level of Reus, Müller or Özil? I don't think so. France does, they have Griezmann and I would say Mbappe too.

Isco, Diego Costa, Asensio, Pedro, Saul, Morata. All very good attacking players. Isco made Italy look like chumps.

IMO these are Germany’s strongest opponents in the WC
Spain
Brazil
France
Argentina
Portugal
Uruguay
Belgium

Man it‘d be great to do it again... But there are strong teams... I‘d be pissed if we didn’t beat Portugal though... Awful team...

I agree. Brazil, France, Spain, Belgium and Argentina (even England) are all stronger this WC than they were in the last world cup. However, to Germany’s credit they too (unlike previous winners - Italy & Spain) have improved since last WC. Germany have not rested on their laurels (like Italy and Spain did) and have brought in youngsters.

Plus, if this is of any relevance, the Germans don’t have to worry about the Italians at all this summer :P

But is it not embarrassing for a big country like Germany to go for this policy!?

We are not talking about Malta (a country which was also interested in his passport) but about Germany with 80million plus population , not to mention the Merkel guests....
it is shameful if Nations will start adopting such policies...

A National team is not a football club...

What policy? It is not like Loew is pleading him to wait for several years (which means that he'd have fewer career options).

^ Interesting names but I think only Sven and maybe Uth have a serious case from the names on that list.
