Got an incredibly stupid red card today, minutes after he was subbed on. Hasn't been doing that great since Schmidt has been gone.

Who do you think can be Germany’s deputy to Kimmich for the RB spot? Toljan? I don’t watch much German soccer apart from Bayern games so I don’t know who can be a backup at RB.

Right now it's looking really bleak. Henrichs is nowhere near the form he was 1 or 1 1/2 years ago, Klostermann still not back to his old self, for some reason Löw doesn't nominate Weiser (not saying he should; I haven't seen much of Hertha lately). Maybe making Rudy the emergency solution again would be the best choice.

I hope Can was bad enough in the last game to finally be out of the discussion.

Rüdiger can cover RB if needed. No need to drop an offensive player for a backup RB.

Yeah Rudy and Rudiger should be good enough as emergency backups and since it is only a 23 man squad you can take only so many defenders.

Also, it is really surprising that we don’t see/hear about any of those U21 guys (Arnold, Weiser, Meyer, etc.) who won the Euro this year beating a super talented Spain side! None of them are mentioned when talking about the WC, exactly the opposite of the 2010 WC when guys like Ozil, Khedira, Neuer and Boateng who had won the U21 went to the WC.

I hope for Ginter and Rudy being the backups, not Rudiger and Rudy. Ginter isn't the best but at least he's comfortable enough on the ball to work in the system either as a centerback or rightback.

As for U21 players, it's because the talent pool is so much deeper now than it was in 2010. If we were in the situation we were in 2009 with regards to who our older players were, Sane, Brandt, Weigl, Sule, Arnold, Meyer, Wieser, etc., would be starters for the NT, but, because we have so many good players now, half of them are going to miss the World Cup.

France have the fastest CB pairing in Umtiti and Varane. Plus both of them are tall and strong too and they know how to defend, both play for the Spanish giants. Scoring against this CB pairing can be a tall order.

IMO, You can’t catch them on the break because they are fast enough to recover and tackle, only through creativity can you score against them.

I just want a draw where Germany don’t have to face Argentina, Brasil, España and France at least until the semifinal. Give me the toughest possible group because I am confident that Germany can win the hardest of groups. Just don’t want to play those four until the final/semifinal.

You are absolutely right, in a 32 team World Cup it is not that hard to get out of the Group Stage; even if Germany gets Spain in its Group the other two teams (since a 3rd UEFA Team can't be drawn and Brazil-Argentina are seeded) should not stand in Germany's way. It all comes down to the Knock out stage where even a draw will put you at the mercy of the lottery called penalty shoutout.

Can you imagine that Germany hypothetically can get this Group: Peru, Egypt, Panama?
