True... But who says they're not taking it seriously? They are! They're just setting their priorities straight...

They're going to be fielding a vastly weakened squad. How can you possibly say that they're taking it seriously? They're more weakened than for the average international friendly.

Depends. The players will want to win to maybe play at the World Cup. Problem is, they suck and don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the tournament.
If you're talking about Loew and the management, for me they clearly don't care if Germany win or not, otherwise they would have played the best team.

This is similar to showing up for a race in flip-flops. Yes, you'll still be running but by intentionally giving yourself a huge handicap it shows that you are nowhere near determined to try and win.

I still think they stand a better chance than you think... Tournament mentality, Germany, ring a bell?

It is not really a bad choice that team... Sure is not the best team who Germany can bring but many of them are out for injuries or similar (Howedes, Reus, Gotze, Sane, Boateng, Neuer, Weigl, Hummels who played last games for Bayern but was not fully fit), so Muller, Ozil and Gomez plus Khedira and Kroos (who have still the CL final to play) are the only players really left at home... And better hungry youngesters than more expert players who are not really interested in playing the confederation cup.

So you're basing your hopes on history? That's stretching it even though I know you love history :)

Come on, do you really think this German squad has a chance against a full-force Chile for example?

I find it funny you are so optimistic about Germany but so pessimistic about Bayern :P

I am almost sure who Reus this year was trying to escape his usual curse asking to be left out of the team for Confederation Cup but still was not enough and I am really sorry for him (and the same for Gotze)

Because I also think that in soccer mentality goes a long way (which we are missing lately, and players like Müller are a part of that...)
And no, I am not optimistic, I just think it's unfair to say that our participation should be revoked...
Bayern, on the other hand, have proven for years, that they miss something... "Pessimism" (again, I think it's realism) is justified... One thing is definitely for sure: whitewashing and spin doctoring won't help a bit...
And I think it would be a closer call than you think against Chile...
