The problem is that both of them play the offensive part of a double pivot partnership in their respective clubs. For Khedira that is actually his best position and role, and for Kroos he has been forced to play there due to our lacking squad depth in the past which we have discussed ad infinitum. I don't recall a lot of matches where we played both of them together on these positions, but when we did we looked atrociously in the DM space in front of our back-4.

Last Friday Khedira played the lone #6 against the Färöer Islands and didn't look too well either in this role, which is defensive by definition.

The @DFB_Team has released the lineup. Pretty much the same one that Mutu posted.

Finally playing with two real fullbacks. Schmelzer might not be as good as Lahm but you can't convince me that a CB is gonna do a better job than him at LB.

Khedira dropping super deep when we have the ball, making us attack in a 3-5-2. That's a wee bit complacent if you ask me, and can backfire easily (and almost has).

I'd like to see Götze in the second half. Him and Reus have great chemistry, they can make sick stuff together. They are like Robbery

And Germany needs a solid LB because Schmelzer has always performed awful with the NT and I can't think of another good solution. I hate to see a CB playing as wingback
