I'm not sure where to look for it, but I'd be interested to see what the odds of them being relegated in years past (and consequently staying up) have been.

I can't find it going back too far, but per Goalimpact they gave them a 71.4% chance of finishing 17/18 on April 18, 2015 (after same amount of match days as played this season, 28)

I wonder when the last time they were (odds-wise) as close as they are now was.

To be fair by the next week it had adjusted to less than 40%

Well, if Schalke do their Job it will become way more likely...

Strongly disagree. If anything, I'd do the opposite and have all 3 last positions being playoffs.

Hypothetically there could be a big disparity between the 2nd division and the 1st division, and who finishes in 18th place in the Bundesliga may be much better than who finishes 1st in the 2nd division. Shouldn't the top division comprise of the best 18 teams in the country?

Especially if Bayern don't win tomorrow. It would suck if both Bayern and Schalke fail to win which would result in Bayern winning the league 'on the sofa'.

Well, the better team is the one doing their job in 34 games, not the one beating a team equipped for an inferior league in a two-legged tie, on top of that having the disadvantage of playing away first, at the end of a season... You remember talking about squad depth when we discussed a 4th sub?

Also, if your hypothesis was true, in the long run the result would be the same - without awarding HSV for the shit work they’re doing...

Not the first time... We would win it "on the sofa" either way if we don’t win our game... Most important thing for me this matchday is a Schalke victory...

I don't want HSV relegated just to say they got relegated. I want HSV (or any other club for that matter) relegated because there are superior teams in the second division which can replace them and improve the quality of the league. If a relegation ends up reducing the Bundesliga quality, that's a loss for the league.

Yeah... You know, there’s a dude who once said "the trend is your friend"... Their trend is to always turn it around, most of the times in the playoffs...
Our trend is to lose high profile ties...

You can say a lot of things about me... But I'm not building castles in the sky... There’s always some background to it...
