James with a good coach would have been amazing.

Müller on Coutinho: Of course, [Coutinho’s transfer] intensified the competition at my best position, but that isn’t the problem at all. It’s not about that at all. A coach has to make difficult decisions before every game. [Bundesliga]

Philippe Coutinho on Thomas Müller: "He's a great player as I've always said. He always helps his teammates, he has a lot of experience. It's good to play alongside him" [@kessler_philipp]

I'm a fan of neither... I like Müller better as a person but who cares?

Thing is: I am NOT a fan of paying ridiculous sums for mediocre players... Close to 50m for a year of soccer that gibes us nothing we wouldn’t habe had without spending it... And some people in here get a boner because of that...
Coutinho - if he ever was - is just as finished at the top level as Müller...
But in the meantime he's messing up our wage structure and our game...
I mean that supposedly WC player cannot even make something happen against fucking Union Berlin... Maybe Bochum on Tuesday is on his level? Or we can play him in Bayern 2, maybe that will justify some suckers drooling all over him...

Since Müller opened his mouth BOTH have been playing garbage.

They need to get their sh!t together and start to perform.

And I agree with Shpati, James was better and cheaper than both of them.

Think about it - now is the first time since the beginning of the last season that Kovač has been under serious scrutiny on all fronts.
In the meantime, we got Coutinho, the maestro who struggles to adapt to lackluster tactical system.
Müller has been here since the beginning of Kovač’s tenure, yet it took one brilliant Coutinho to expose the magnitude of Kovač’s failure. If Müller was really WC, he would also have struggled with Kovač, however he blended in the whole mediocrity quite seamlessly.

Therefore Cou > Müller. Checkmate atheists.

That’s the dumbest reasoning ever... Literally...

A player that is so shot Barca wants to get rid of him at all costs isn’t WC either... And your checkmate is imaginary...

And that’s not even talking about Müller struggling BIGTIME with Kovac - but maybe you were concentrating on Coutinho too much last season...

Can you please provide us with a link to a news article containing a quote from Müller "opening his mouth"? As far as I know, the closest indication we have is a quote from Kovac saying that Mueller was not happy with something he had said.

YlonenXabi wrote:BOTH have been playing garbage

Maybe he finally realised that the way to get minutes with Kovac is to play badly, hence he started to purposely play badly. In fact, it seems to have worked, because he's played in 65% of the available playing time since. :P

Or maybe, you're just biased against him. As per WhoScored ratings on the last 2 matches (the ones where Mueller played a fair amount of minutes), he has the 3rd highest average rating (after Lewandowski and Thiago) out of all players who played in both matches. Before you point towards Mueller's performance, you had better look at the team's performance as a whole first and keep that in perspective. Was he brilliant since allegedly opening his mouth? No. But when you take into perspective the performance from the players around him, then you'll see he wasn't bad, and definitely not "garbage". He had quite a good performance against Olympiakos, for example.
