2018/19 Tactics & Formations Thread

Postby ramsej84 » Thu Apr 26, 2018 9:29 am

1.Scrap the wing play as our main tactic.
2.use 4-2-2-2 4312 4321 3412 3421
3. sell : Lewa. Thiago Bernat & Robbery (in order to avoid the temptation to play them)
4. buy : Griezmann, Kovacic, Philipp Max and a CB

P.S I believe that Renato will re born under Nico

Coman can play for Gnabry

Don't think we've ever agreed so much about the way forward for Bayern. I'm not sure about Griezmann, there may be other options.

Coman is the only one who doesn't obviously fit into this tactic. It's a shame because I think he is future Ballon d'Or material, but we must adapt to our squad not to one player.

If we stick to wings we need to buy countless players if we want to be competitive, and we'll have a problem keeping our midfielders happy. It just doesn't make sense but if they're willing to spend 100s of millions and sign 2 world class wingers + backups + possibly a striker, not to mention 1-2 fullbacks, be my guest. I'm all for it. Realistically speaking we should go for 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1 because with just a couple of transfers and some backups we can be competing for a treble again if we implement it correctly.

Please use the tactics thread, we don't need to have a new thread for this.

Unlocked, moved, and renamed to next season's tactics thread. It's more accurate I think. Thread won't be a sticky until the end of the season though.

Coman can play as a striker - instead of Serge

no need to compete for the treble - if we finish second or third but be able to win that thing again.

But it's not ideal and he might not be as effective there... Or he might not want to play it.

It's different with Gnabry who I think has a striker skillset. I've always considered him more of a forward than a winger, you can see posts of mine calling for him as Lewa's backup in summer. I think he'd do very well there even though he's rarely played it (I think he did at the Olympics?)

I think last games for TSGH he was actually deployed in that position.

By the way; we can always change to 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 during the match.

With no new transfers:

Backup GK: Ulreich
Backup FB: Rafinha
Backup CB: Süle
Backup DM: Vidal (if he leaves, we sign someone)
Backup Tolisso/Goretzka: Thiago
Backup James: Thiago, and ideally sign someome (Isco?)
Backup SS: Gnabry
Backup ST: Wagner

This looks like a very strong lineup to me that can get much better if we make some tactics-specific transfers.

Assuming Sanches comes back from loan and stays for the season, he could rotate with Goretzka and Tolisso - let him play some easier matches.

Overall, I think this formation is the way forward... but we all know we'll be sticking our two mid-30 wingers out there all season ;)

I forgot about Sanches. Would be good if he could get back on track because he'd be like a new transfer. Not holding my breath though.

I posted this before, but I hope he has the balls to change the style in Bayern. But if he want's to play in his way, i'm sure that he needs different type of players in some positions.

Erm no... We need at least 6 wc players with actual balls to even remotely consider this...

I'm on board with you Ramsej.

1) Definitely! Pleaseeeee
2) other options are 442 diamond, 442 with wide midfielders and 433 ala Tuchel/Löw
3) I'd like to keep Thiago but let's wait and see..
4) Max Phillip, Martial a CB and a DM. Not a fan of Griezmann and don't think we need yet another CM. Werner.

Next season I want to see one of these formations (rough formations, they can be something similar but with 3-at-the-back or whatnot):

The Tuchel/Löw-433 (relying on diagonal runs, cutbacks and late arrivals to the box, NOT on dribbling):

-------Martial-Werner-Müller
----------James-Javi-Thiago
Alaba-Hummels-Boateng-Kimmich
Neuer

The 442 with wide midfielders:

------Lewandowski-Müller
James---------------------------Tolisso
------------Javi-Göretzka
Alaba-Hummels-Boa-Kimmich
-----------------Neuer

The 442-d:

------Lewandowski-Müller
-----------------James
-------Thiago---------Göretzka
--------------------Javi
Alaba-Hummels-Boa-Kimmich
-----------------Neuer

* Not sure if I want him to stay or not.

Consider what? Can you elaborate?

If we want to keep playing the way we do, correct. You're not exaggerating imo.

If we want to play the way I want us to, I think that lineup I posted is already good enough to beat anyone and there aren't any really old players. The bench is good too. We would need to buy some more great backups especially considering our injuries, and obviously one would hope we will still invest in world class players to strengthen it even further. Since this is the tactics thread I was just working on the assumption that we won't buy or sell anyone.

My point is that even if we don't want to spend a lot of money and if we missed the good Robbery replacements (KDB, Salah), we can still put out what I consider to be a world class starting 11 if we stop stubbornly playing Robbery each time.
