Yes, I like it a lot. I mean, obviously I still want us to sign a couple of world class forwards, but with the squad as it looks today it's a very good lineup.

I have the perfect team already

3-4-2-1

Neuer
Sule
Boateng
Hummels
Kimmich
Alaba
Goretzka
Tolisso
James
Coman
Sandro Wagner

this is the best we can do with the pieces that we have
This team doesn't need Martinez, Thiago and Robbery, just the players that who have proved to us that we cannot count in big games
We reinforce the defense, that showed us some weakness in the end of the season. And we have two talents, strong, young and competitive midfielders. Thiago doesn't have the intensity that this formation need.

Muller can dispute a spot with Coman, of course. But i have a preference for Coman because he showed in the last season much more football than Muller. And of course that we are going to need his speed.

2018/19 Tactics & Formations Thread

Postby FCBayernMunchen » Mon May 28, 2018 10:00 pm

I was just thinking of that formation yesterday, although Thiago could replace either of Goretzka or Tolisso - whoever is in form plays. My only difference is that I imagined it with a false 9 which would require a major transfer: Bale or Griezmann.

In this formation Martinez would be a CB, maybe even a starter, so we do need him. Basically with Alaba and Kimmich tracking back and a CB/CDM hybrid (Martinez/Süle) the formation switches to 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 very easily. We also need a new CB (Vogt?)

The front 3 would be fluid and interchanging, so this would take advantage of the players' experience on the wings (including the false 9). The main reason I thought of such a tactic is that it would also fit Gnabry and Müller.

Man, Alaba & Kimmich must do their best under him. I'm confident with Kimmich, but little suspicious on Alaba..

Also, player like Fekir playing as a false 9 under him has the potential to be the best player on the team.

This is great news but please no false 9 bullshit! No just no! We don’t have a Messi on our team nor are we buying someone like Griezmann or Dybala. Müller sucks as a lone striker so please don’t use him there either!

If we don’t buy any new players between now and the end of the transfer window, the following formations would suit Bayern:

Well the point of a false 9 is that we also only have Wagner as a striker (and it's doubtful we can rely on him for an entire CL season) if we sell Lewandowski. Presumably we would buy someone like Fekir or Bale whom we are linked to. It is easier to find someone like this than a direct striker replacement and it also makes sense if Kovac and the board see Gnabry as one to build on and Robbery as good enough.

Maybe the only positive thing from Kovac is our improved set pieces. We scored from a number of corners. Not only that, but our players frequently win the headers from the corners. In the past, our corners were counter-attacking gifts to our opponents. Even Hummels scored from a corner (after almost the whole season heading off target). :P

Yes, you're right about that.. We scored our goal numer 12 from a corner.

We always look dangerous with corners...
Probably the first time since Ze & Ballack left Scholl and Effie...

What? We were great with Robben/Ribery and Gomez/Mandzukic.
