Time for those red seats

The story goes back a couple of years ago when 1860 first flirted with relegation and some comments from Ismaik got to the papers where he admitted that the blues were paying something like 2 million a year in rent and he argued about a move to a smaller venue. KHR got asked as to what would happen if they moved and would the seats be switched to red. In proper fashion he argued about their contractual agreement for a bit until a reporter, probably tired of not getting a straight answer, pushed him by shooting a direct question if the seats would be turned to red or not if and when 1860 left.

KHR simply said: "Then it will be so." The quote must be somewhere around here.

Depends on the permit from the city. Biggest hurdle is transport logistics.

What happens if they are promoted back to the 2. Bundesliga?

I imagine that if they can afford it they will renegotiate.

I like 1860 at the Allianz Arena.

First off, they're providing us with some extra 2m income every year. Secondly, it helps remind their players, staff and fans who's the better team in Munich every time they walk into the grandeur of the Allianz Arena.

I was asking more about the engineering side, though it probably wasn't very clear. I am well aware that the City of Munich is very careful about avoiding transportation overcrowding. But if that was somehow improved or restrictions, can the stadium be easily expanded? Has anyone provided any study on how it might be done?

I have no serious architectural investigation/evaluation to show you, but I know that both Karl Hopfner (long time vice president and president for a short period ) and Christian Dreesen on occasion mentioned they were dreaming about a fourth rank...
And quite frankly, they would have to be pretty darn stupid to not remotely discuss this with the architect during planning and construction...

Bayern had always wanted a bigger stadium and was almost forced to accept original capacity by 1860 and the City of Munich so I think is very likely the asked to include the possibility of a future expansion in the project of the stadium (and until now FCB has make all the possible for expanding the capacity inside the actual structure and does not look still totally satisfied by the number of seats available)

I'm not sure I agree. While the income is certainly better; not only from the quoted rent value but probably by the ticket and sales income from matchday events, there's certainly more maintenance upkeep and just having to change that pitch costs around two million if I am not mistaken.
