Well, it’s not like taking a look is forbidden, is it?! Women do that too...
For me, the game lacks tempo and physicality but it’s great they're playing it!

Haha, not really. Female footballers don't attract me which isn't the case with volleyball players that really made me insane, though. =P~ :P Especially at the age between 16-24 that was the case. :D Even now when I just remind myself of this and one wild passionate volleyball girl, uhhhhhh... I feel unrest, a positive one.

MUTU, it's worse for men - they only exist for sexual purposes and women's interests. :D Just being a footballer makes you popular and desired even when you are 16, 17, 18 years old and far from a becoming a professional player or something big, famous and filthy rich.
Nobody asks you whether you are smart, polite or something, you are an athlete, big self-esteem, big self-confidence, handsome and there you go. Even if you are stupid or a complete idiot that, you win them. You get them way easier. :)

In our part of Europe, if you want to be successful with female, either be an athlete or have a latest 2-3 generations of German cars(Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW) or be some rich daddy's son. :D

I've never heard of any guy with female footballer getting as lucky and happy as girls getting with male footballers. :D

Our ladies were eliminated from the CL semi finals with a 4-1 loss away to Chelsea, after winning the first leg 2-1. :(

Yep as I said on another thread, our women’s team are losing to English money now. And Wolfsburg’s who used to be dominant in European women’s football. Chelsea beat them in a previous round as well

Me?

Re: English money: some women (and men) will call me chauvinistic or whatevs for calling it "women’s" soccer and not watching it, but in fact I strongly oppose the "same wirk, same money" bullshit - in THIS case... It’s a simple supply and demand issue... All that to make this point: if there IS a club willing to spend, there has to be a market wirth spending on and that means it’s understandable the players partake in it... After all, it IS a job and as opposed to men they don’t make millions already...

Well, but it’s essentially socialism... Also, I can relate to (ultra-)conservatives on the alleged "wage-gap"...

There’s not really such a thing in Germany... They use ABSOLUTE numbers and compare, ignoring maternity leave and different setups... Generally, medicinal care jobs are less well-paid than trading/business... Since more women than men choose those jobs, they‘ll end up earning less... Might well be a social issue and these jobs ARE underpaid, but acting like it‘s a gender issue is retarded and evil alike, since men and women working as a nurse, for example, earn 100% the same (as guaranteed by our constitution...)

That said, for soccer, I always feel it‘s not just performance based... It’s compensation for abstaining from certain features of wuality of life, I mean: obviously, there’s more fuss about men‘s soccer and this they deserve a higher compensation for loss of privacy and somewhat liberty: they lose out on the "best" years of their life, no going out with friends partying all night, getting wasted, baked, etc, their every move is observed, even on the few weeks of vacation they have, and they have to live a healthy lifestyle: again, no alcohol, beer, no candy, no fat stuff, burgers, fries - unless you‘re Süle, of course...

So yeah, unless women’s soccer becomes similarly popular, I think SOME kind if wage gap is justified, albeit the actual difference may well be construed as too big...

As long as female football remains unable to generate as much money as male football, it would be wrong for female players to earn as much as male players. Everyone should earn whatever value they can generate.

Tbh I never really know what to think about the gender pay gap. I used to think it’s for the same reason you mentioned: different jobs etc. and using absolute numbers. But going off my own experience I’m not sure anymore. In the writing and translation sectors, back when I was looking for full time jobs, I’ve consistently been offered better starting salaries than all my university friends (these sectors have like a 90-95% female rate of students in Malta). Now there are other cases to be made here: for example, I have a Master’s degree in translation whereas most in Malta only have a postgraduate diploma, I applied for writing jobs holding two Master’s degrees and not one, my final classifications are higher than most, and so on. But there are also cases which suggest otherwise. For example, me and a friend being offered the same entry job as a translator for a new agency, at the time both with no experience and having followed the same courses with the same grades, but I was offered a higher starting salary (funnily enough she took that job and I didn’t). Or another friend, the only one who’s ever topped me at University, consistently and by a lot, being offered significantly less money for an editing job than I have been offered in the past (there were a few years and Covid between the applications, but still).

They can cry about the pay they want as much as they want, but aslong as womens football is as cringely bad as it is, they will never come near fans/wages/tv deals etc for it.

I tried to watch parts of it, but man it is just so bad. They blindly kick almost every long ball forward, shots often have no precision or power. Goalies are 95% just mannequins who dont know how to go to a ball. Its just painful to watch and i can only laugh about how they talk about the fact they want to have equal pay in this sport. Its nothing against women at all.

But its like a surgeon and me doing the same job, and i want the same pay as the real deal. #-o

Well, isn’t this also freelance work? Not saying it never happens, but like 90% of jobs have tariff agreements anyways so the discussion is a sham debate...
Also, interestingly enough, I hear no cries of unfairness when it’s about women‘s higher life expectation and still not paying more social security or health insurance, while getting the same benefits

I am all for equal rights and opportunities, but very much against artificial mainstreaming equalization... That’s ideological nonsense...

But we‘re digressing

That’s a little mean...

I mean, there‘s people who will see this as chauvinistic, but bottom line is: men and women are inherently different and men are just better suited for the physicality this sport demands... Women simply HAVE a disadvantage here basically impossible to make up for... There are still technically gifted players, but they cannot recreate the pace and physicality we (I?) like about this sport...
