Man this 4-3-3 talk is really getting on my nerves here. 4-3-3 will force me into the Kovac Out movement.

Because we no longer know how to use him, that's what had happened when Ancelotti arrived to München. I'm very sorry for him, but that Raudeuter role at #10 position is really something that is missing to him as well as to Lewandowski who stressed few times last season that he likes to have support from his teammate as he used to have it far more in 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 season.
We'll see if he can make come up to something this season, maybe as a backup striker and at the current age improve his goalscorer abilities. :)

Can't wait to see this having zero effect to the team's attacking style.

I don't get how could that work with just one extra line?

I remember that hexagon field drill and that was actually a very good idea. In fact it is quite similar to a drill I used to do with my team and we played 4-2-3-1 with offensive fullbacks always aiming to overlap, kind of like what Bayern has been doing for years

But to make it work you also need to keep in mind the role of the fullbacks. They are one of Bayern's best offensive weapons and they provide overlaps. In order to make it work you would need to make them play as jokers on the outside of the hexagon or make them the only players allowed to use the outside of it. Otherwise it makes no sense at all.

And besides, if we want to attack through the centre more often then Gnabry should play on the left and Coman (Sane) on the right.

Judging by the photo it looks to be the same as the hexagon style pitch we were training on weeks ago, probably nothing new here tbh

I was thinking about Hernandez as our possible CDM. I think he has got all the qualities (agility, physicality, intelligence and ball control) to potentially play there. I know it leaves us a little bare in the defence and reliant on Boateng to be in-form again. (I much rather see an inform Boateng and Pavard pairing).

If Kovac is such a tactical nerd he should definitely be open to the idea I think. Lucas, Thiago and Coutinho to me seems like a mouth watering midfield combination for a 4-3-3 with Martinez/Cuisance covering for Hernandez and Thiago and Tolisso/Goretzka for Coutinho.

The primary weakness being aerial strength which is why I lean towards an inform Boateng as the one who presses forwards and often won conversions near the half way point with Pavard being quick enough to sweep up any mistakes from Boateng in the duels.

Nice, but if we had to choose a CB to push into DM I would pick Süle instead. Leave Lucas and Pavard as the CB duo.

Our most balanced midfield option atm would be. Martinez, Thiago and Coutinho. If martinez can stay fit this is a really strong midfield.
Thiago can help Martinez with defending and bringing the ball forward, while also supporting the attack with Coutinho.
Martinez is our only true DM. And it is way too risky to not play with CDM when all other midfielders are mostly bad at defending.

We had such a balanced XI back in 2011/12, 2012/13. and we played with Gustavo and Martinez as CDM.

Ribery.............................Robben
............Kroos/Muller..............
......................Schweini.............
..............Gustavo/Martinez..........

Gustavo/martinez were really great at that role. Schweini was always something like box to box MC. and Kroos was more of a #8, Muller was a little further up the field.

So if we compare it to this season (if no other guys come in), it would look something like this...

LM..................................RW
...........Coutinho...................
.....................Thiago.............
..............Martinez..................

Süle would be overrun in midfield. He is not agile and has shitty acceleration.

If anyone, it should be Pavard, who's a pretty mediocre defender.
Sané ---- Lewandowski ---- Gnabry
Davies - Thiago - Kimmich - Dest
Hernández -- Alaba -- Upamecano
--------------- Neuer ----------------
