Also the part about the 4-1-4-1 demolishing Monchengladbach, I'll still give it some time (and also wariness) as Favre was fielding an experimental lineup himself on the Telekom Cup.

I hope we finally beat BMG convincingly this season though [-o<

Has anyone found a nice article analyzing the importance of the "double pivot" last season?

With the right players in the right position, this formation could very well but a good one...hopefully. :)

Yed, we need an actual defensive midfielder in the defensive midfielder role.

But even still, our players are so used to playing with the 2 defensively positioned midfielders that it's going to take time to get used to the change.

I think we should go for the lone DM only with Martinez, and no one else.
Emre CAN do it.

I think he is placing way too much emphasis on tactics in regards to the goals, but apart from that, good analysis.
The ideal team

I agree but i feel like he is trying to be unbiased and just state fact and not "what ifs".....

Pep Guardiola: "Thiago is a competitor for Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez and I'm here to make a decision." [source]

Conclusion 1: Thiago is to play as a defensive midfielder (discuss in this thread)
Conclusion 2: Luiz Gustavo is leaving? (discuss in the Luiz Gustavo transfer thread)
Conclusion 3: Emre Can is leaving? (discuss in the Emre Can transfer thread)

I have mixed feelings about this one..He is still too vulnerable as a DM, I know he can improve but to waste his offensive capabilities is strange in my opinion. He will be way more effective played higher up the field. I trust Pep so I'll just wait and see what happens.

Sammer : " Schweinsteiger is the best at his position , and no one can take his place in the starting lineup"

wasn't that what Sammar said, I think Basti and Javi did great so why change, I'm not even that sure of this Thago,
