You've got to be able to adapt and I'm sure we'd be able to play that formation against 75% of the league without fear of counter attack.

High possesion-high defensive line is the football style we play.
It is also a not-so-nice way to get easily bum-raped on the counter, and with 3 in the back? Oh god...
Jesus saves, but Kahn does it better ;)

Simply because they don't play with a pure one

Ibrahimovic? Bit of a failure there, no? Eto'o didn't break any records either, did he? Villa, well he's been plagued by injuries so it is a bit unfair to include him.

I was only talking about the last 2 seasons. Also one should mention that their system is different than ours. We're too reliant on Gomez for scoring goals.

The only ways we can play with 3 defenders are either the 3-4-3 or else formations with 3 CM/CDMs. Even then it is a bit of a risk, although I admit I am a fan of the 3-4-3 and think we have the right players to use it.

Heynckes talks sense here. I think our attacking options are better and more varied than we had last season and seems willing to change it about if things aren't going to plan.

He was clearly reluctant to do that last season.

I agree, a lot was expected from Petersen but he didn't deliver and I think a loan is absolutely perfect for him at the moment. And with Pizarro, you also got a really experienced striker who may not run as much as Mandzukic but that's fine cus he knows playing time will be difficult for him and he puts other infront of him

This one is for Mutu:

"Bayern boss Heynckes defends Gomez: Even Gerd Muller was not perfect

Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes has admitted that he is baffled by the criticism that Mario Gomez has endured since the tail end of last season, arguing that "even Gerd Muller was not perfect".

The Germany international was one of the scapegoats for Bayern`s failure to put Chelsea away in the Champions League final in May - a game they went on to lose on penalties - while his place in die Mannschaft`s attack came under constant scrutiny during Euro 2012.

Heynckes feels that the lack of faith and confidence in Gomez is unwarranted, arguing that he is being judged by a set of standards that nobody could possibly live up to.

"He has an outstanding strike rate," the coach pointed out in an interview with Kicker. "He delivered in the European Championship. I cannot understand the discussion surrounding him.

"The perfect striker does not exist. Even Gerd Muller, the top scorer in our nation`s history, was not perfect."

I hope the pressure of Mandzukic and Pizzaro will force him to work harder though
