1st Game vs. Arsenal

Postby TexasBayernFan » Fri Sep 11, 2015 8:37 pm

I am traveling from Texas with a friend of mine and it will be our first game at the AllianZ!
Tell me what I should do for fun?
I bought tickets in section 221, what is this section like?
Any specific bierhauses we should try?
Anything specific to do on gameday?

Unfortunately not going to this one, but you'll have a great time! I would recommend visiting the Augustiner-Keller Biergarten, or even the Chinesischer Turm biergarten... maybe try to avoid the Hofbräuhaus, as it's really touristy (unless that's what you're looking for, of course). What hotel are you staying at?

havent decided yet but were looking at a couple in the Altstadt. Maybe Mercure hotel or the Hotel an der Oper. Something not too expensive but with great location

those hotels should be fine - my only recommendation is not to stay in the neighborhood immediately surrounding the Hauptbahnhof... other than that, you're good!

good point about the biergartens in november... oops! 8)

there seem to be a lot of hotels by the train station, but I read that it was full of beggers and such

It's not dangerous or anything, just the "least desirable" part of the city to be in. I think you'd be disappointed if you stay there, to be honest

November might be tough with the Biergärten, but there's a slight chance some a re open...
I can only say it again: my recommendation will always be the "Augustiner Bräustuben", close to subway station Hackerbrücke... It's actually right next to the Augustiner beer pant... They have great food, great draft beer and prices are fairly reasonable... Also, there's usually many Bayern fans there on gamedays...
If you're more into Weißbier (I like both... :P ) there's the "Andechser am Dom", "Andechser naturtrüb" is the best Weißbier there is (IMHO)... But unfortunately everyone knows that - they are usually awfully crowded, especially on gamedays...

221 is nice... It's right above the die hard supporters of Club No. 12 and Schickeria and you will have a great view!

Very easy to get from Sendlinger Tor to the Wiesn - you could walk of course (15 minutes or so), or it's about 1 U-Bahn station away
