kid that subbed alab, heljberg or smthing like that, was pathetic, they should give that Markoutz kid more playing time. he was most impressive of the youngsters yet...

six first team players was not here...
They injured our best player (Alaba), and later Rafinha.
Ref was from Italy, and every touch was foul for Napoli...

For me:

1) Our offense was good, but the defense let us down. I expected a bit more from the defenders, but if we are honest we are never going to end up in a situation where all 4 defenders and the GK are out at the same time.
2) Pizarro seems to be more dangerous than Mandzukic
3) The need for a midfielder is justifying itself. Perhaps this will convince the board to look at other options.

This is only pre-season without most of our starting 11, its not disgraceful to lose against Napoli as of late. Give em time, but it is obvious there are some things that JH is stuck on and needs a refresh. Maybe Sammer can point him and the team in the right direction. I agree that more youngsters playing wouldn't have hurt anything -- I want to give some of them more time to shine.

Dante was horrible IMO and Shaqiri was invisible when he played CAM in the first half. I don't think that position suits him.

Dante played quite well, he was dominant in the air at most times

There was two occasions during the Trentino friendly when you had your heart in your mouth due to a defensive mix up.

It's safe to say though, Dante and DvB centrehalf pairing won't happen much during next season!!

I find Dante too aggressive. Him and Boateng together would be bound to earn a red card sooner rather than later.

Celtic used to have two centre halves called McManus and Caldwell, and in Scotland were nicknamed:

"Hied it and Humph it"

Due to their tendency to be a bit of a bombscare. And I don't want Bayern having their equivalent.

I fear a combination of Dante/DvB/Boateng could be the same.

Ideally, a Badstuber and Boateng partnership is the best for us. One of the best defences in Europe last season and it's only going to get better.
