Yes saw this ridiculous news....
I don't agree with it....

I agree. I think Argentina should have a chance to name a stadium after him first, if it’s something they wish to do

Nobody played FM games between 2005 to nowadays and Argentinian Primera División, huh?

Just to inform you, there is already for years Estadio Diego Armando Maradona in Argentina, the one from his first club that introduced him to the whole world - Argentinos Juniors.

They named after him in 2004, 16 years ago!

Paolo Rossi: Italy's 1982 World Cup hero dies aged 64 [source]

I clearly remember Paolo, average and controversial player for the most part but carried Italy through one of the most competitive World Cups ever (Spain 1982) I wish they will bring back the same format: a QF round robin after the group stage, then the SF and Final. More quality games, less penalty shootouts, a way to reward consistency over luck or details.

Paolo was serving a 3 year suspension from football for match fixing imposed in 1980 so he wasn't eligible to play in WC 1982, but the sentence was suspiciously shortened to 2 years and he was nominated for the squad and most Italians were furious because he was completely out of shape, but Enzo Bearzot stuck with Paolito, even when in prep friendlies he could barely run.

Bearzot started Rossi in all 3 matches in the group stage, and in all he looked as lost as a ghost in the field and no one gave the italians a chance in the next round after drawing all 3 matches and scoring only 2 goals in the group stage (sooo Italian!) they actually advanced after finishing equal on points and Goal Difference with Cameroon but scored one more goal for the tie breaker.

In the QF Round Robin they were paired with the reigning champions Argentina and the favorite Brazil. Italy beat them both: 2:1 vs Argentina and 3:2 over Brazil where Rossi rediscovered his shape with a hat trick.

Paolo went on to score a double vs Poland in the SF and the first goal vs West Germany in the Final, finishing top goal scorer of the tournament.

At the time many could not explain it, I remember some saying that teams got too relax thinking that Rossi was not a threat, specially Brazil and doing "cherry picking" Paolo punished them, but the argument did not play well when he proved to be decisive vs Poland and Germany.

Brought some memories to read about his death.

But he was suspended cause he gambled on a match in which he was to be involved.
He played on a win of his team

The house of the late Paolo Rossi was robbed during the Funeral... many valuables were stolen although no football related item was touched.

You're really obsessed with the guy. I bet you wear his underwear. If I meet your wife I will ask her to confirm.
