He was picked for the simple fact that he used to play for them and scored.

Am not justifying the fans' reaction as after all the pro player was doing his job.
I just wanted to point out how easy the Racial card is being played

BTW, they were singing their racist chants since warmup. The "race card" keeps getting "played" because racism happens so often across european leagues. Idiot.

What does this mean? If one employee calls another employee a racial slur and got the employee fired for it, would that be playing the "racial card"?

Racist incidents in sport aren't some political ploy or form of propaganda. These men came to this pitch to play the game they worked tooth and nail for and on top of that win for their teams. By saying they are playing some sort of "race card" you are implying they are reacting to these incidents for some sort of gain and if you are saying that show the proof.

I suggest you lay off these type of topics. You are sounding very insensitive playing down serious societal issues.

I saw what type of chants they were.
Wrong there is nothing to defend here.

According to this report the FCP was only booked for his celebration not for his actions .

The right winger scored an own goal... Ramsej84, he was subjected to racist chants. That is a fact. Now if you want we can discuss whether the fans are racist or not or whether they did it simply to piss him off and gain some advantage for their team, but nothing will change the fact that the action itself was racist.

I wanted to reply in the general chat thread.
Let me explain one thing. Latin & med ppl are hot headed though with warm hearts. Ppl from the north or the US can't understand this.

we have a habit (not a positive one for sure) that when we have a prob with someone we tend to fire with it hurts most.
For example in Malta we have the team from the Capital City, where in the past the majority of the prostitutes lived and made a living thanks to the Navy ppl and the soldiers during the British Rule, so we call them this '' who is your father '' in reference to the fact that they have their father unknown.
Even when we refer to someone without knowing his name, if the person is bald or wears glasses, or has freckles or he is very tall, short, fat , thin etc we ask for him / her by that characteristic.
Therefore those people may not be the racists beings that many are making them to be, otherwise they would have picked onto all colored players on the pitch. Not to mention that are many Portuguese people with dark or very dark complexion.
By the above I am not excusing the chants cause they are bad in their nature but wanted to explain certain things

What could have been a crucial meeting for the sake of Portuguese football, last Friday turned out to be another unfruitful day in what has now sparked into a national debate.

Zach Muscat’s SC Olhanense, alongside five other clubs namely Fafe, Lourosa, Praiense, Benfica de Castelo Branco and Real are all embroiled in a dispute against the Portugal FA after they were denied the chance to get promoted into the second-tier, despite finishing in the top two places in their groups.

i see they are restarting their league from the 3rd of June. And that there will be action pretty much every day. It is not one of my main leagues tbh. I might just check out the odd game or 2.
