Their problem is not Rodri, nor any of the players. Their problem is that Pep is already burnt out, both as a manager in general and as the Manchester Shitty manager specifically.

He needs a psychologist, a psychiatrist and a hagiotherapist for all human components. It's insane what he is doing of himself every day all these years.

If he continues like this, I don't know if he'll make it to 60th birthday.

I get the feeling that Pep has grown a bit stale at City. These things happen. Even very, very good managers do wear out their welcome at times and get to a point where their message/tactics just kind of 'peak' for them. In those times a change of scenery is needed. I have suspected for a bit this is the case at City and IMO he'd do well to start considering somewhere new. These new-money clubs are a little weird to me. They often seem to have some sort of mental block that requires a bit of luck going their way to be able to "break through". I get the feeling that without that "break" they're probably not getting better, with or without Pep. So it is probably time to try something new.

That, and he really just needs to make it so that someone else is in charge of transfer of defenders. For all his strengths, and for all his weaknesses, his targets/signings for defense have to be one of his most glaring shortcomings....

On this note, Benfica confirms transfer of Ruben Dias, 68m plus bonuses.

By my math that puts City at roughly 480,000,000 spent on JUST defenders since Pep has arrived.

To put that into perspective:

Only 43 clubs have spent more than 480,000,000 in their entire HISTORY. From ~1870-2021, just 43 clubs have spent more than that sum, ever.

If you ranked clubs by all-time transfer spending, it would go:

40. Fulham, 542.2m
41. Genoa, 542m
42. Sampdoria, 496m
43. Middlesbrough, 480.1m
44. Manchester City Defenders from 2017-2021, 480m
45. Ajax, 473m
46. Fenerbahce, 450m
47. Schalke, 441m
48. Rennes, 406m
49. West Brom, 402m
50. Betis, 399m

...and that defense is still rubbish.

it would be interesting to see them with a coach who plays more "straight-forward" football. The quality in players they have is impressive, but as is often the case, Pep's intricate tactics and strategies can limit players as much as they help them.

Horrendous game from Lacazette.... he missed 700000 chances in 1 v 1 with Becker

Impressive second half performance by Leeds against City...

7 v 1 shots on target and with more possession.

Pep had to bring two def mdf to tame Bielsa's boys.

Pep said that he much believes that MB is a much better coach than himself.

And for those who are not aware Guardiola considers Bielsa as his inspiration
