That's a great transfer for them. Mata will be of great benefit in front of Andersen and Carrick :|

Huh! Then they must have a "better" CM playing in his place judging by this year's results.

I'll continue here

MoFattal wrote:Arsenal got Ozil. That will be their sole "big" transfer for the next couple of seasons ;)

You think so? I guess Wenger finally wants something. You can play beautiful for people's eyes, but you can't win any trophies. Basically, he started to lose every single English final or Premier league battle right away at the start of every season when he switched Arsenal style from 2003/04 to 2005/06 and even worse to period 2008-2011.

Now something has been changing for a while and with Özil transfer the Frenchman decided to slow down some things. Not to forget, his Island players like Ramsey and Wilshere finally started to look like as integral parts of this great results in the PL.

Wenger can smile into the camera and just turn down this 'rumor', but as he said 3-4 months ago, German talents are currently on the highest level in Europe and most interesting stuff to consider of buying some of them. Last night 5 German players(yeah, children of imigrants besides Mertesacker) played for Arsenal in FA Cup. From what I can see on their FB page, they are invoking name of Julian Draxler. :)

But to say they won't have transfer similar to Özil's... Well, they are in the best situation to spend big money in England. They've been saving the money for last 7-8 years because of stadium and situation has finally changed and they were selling top players to Spain and the competition in PL, so Wenger before this season knew this is going to be his last season if he doesn't do something bombastic, and the fans were getting more and more angry, crazy because of that transfer indifference. It's time to stop all those player departures to both English and Euro competition.

How could look Arsenal in next season

Image

Not bad at all. Only new WC goalkeeper and striker is must. For the rest, 2 backup CBs and probably 2 new backup central midfielders after Rosicky leaves the club.

They also have couple of new wonderkids in youth squads. Wenger only needs to return on the old football philosophy(balanced and more direct football) who could bring him new titles. Money is not a problem for Arsenal.

Why don't they go for ter Stegen and start a bidding war with Barcelona?

Way too late for Arsenal. Ter Stegen has already decided to agree terms with Barcelona.

Exactly year ago I was thinking about that option since Wenger was unhappy with his Polish no. 1 GK. Barca was already then in serious combination for ter Stegen, but seems that Wenger really likes too notice some things way too late. He could have bought this great long-term solution, but one big NO.

He should think about Kevin Trapp or Ron-Robert Zieler. It's really hard to find reliable GK today, but if you're looking for someone, take a look on Germany and Italy where you can always find awesome GKs.

Too bad it's not televised. Let's hope Watford can keep it.
