IMO it should close on 1st February.

The current system is encouraging clubs to stock up on players and have more depth than they need at the time the window closes, just in case they suffer an injury crisis whilst the window is closed. This, in turn, reduces competition because the pool of players available to clubs clubs below the top tier is decreased.

Imagine, hypothetically God forbid, the team bus is involved in an accident today which puts Neuer and Ulreich out for the rest of the season. We'd have to promoted Fruechtl and Hoffmann, but then who's going to keep goal for FC Bayern II in the 3. Liga until January at the earliest when the window opens again?

I don't understand why we're hell-bent on refusing to let clubs fix an injury situation with money they rightfully earned, in, say, October. Why? What advantage does it serve at all? Are we doing it simply because we're used to doing it or does it actually serve an actual purpose? I understand the use of it late in the competition. I also wouldn't like to see a KO round of the CL where one team buys some 5 new players just for those 2 legs, so I agree with closing it in February, but before then I don't see the excuse.

I agree with this idea! In he US the NFL has a trade deadline that is in week 6 of every season. If Europe’s transfer window opened from July toin February as you say it would be similar and allow teams a large window to do their business as well as emergency business. Closing in February or January would be great since it won’t disrupt the season any more than the current two window system since the most important half of the football season which is he second half won’t be disrupted.

Malta's transport minister is claiming in a tweet in that article that 1 in 7 people in the world are fans of Manchester United.

Now where did he get that from? I know he is just claiming that, but still... I could agree with him, but ever since Alex Ferguson won the last Premier League title in 2012/2013 and retired, ManU are very far from their glorious days. The best in the whole story is that many players have been avoiding the club for the last 6 years and I'd dare to say that this actually makes things worse for the Red Devils since most of the football's superstars would choose the United from 2006-2013 days, but this one... :)

Sadio Mané is one big son of bitch! What a top class player he is, incredible guy! =D> 2 goals to turn 0-1 into 2-1 in the first 45 minutes. =D> =D> I rate and value him much more than M. Salah. He is Liverpool's Franck Ribéry.

Regular audits will take place to ensure that the government is getting good value for the money being spent on a deal with Manchester United to promote Malta as a travel destination.

Speaking to the Times of Malta yesterday, Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi said the “stringent contract” signed with the world-famous football club precluded him from revealing the value of the deal. [source]
