The first English player to be on the pitch for Chelsea today ... was in the 79th min.

Just shameful

This is terrible news. With Mourinho out Martial might be less likely to leave.

We lost against Sevilla (last season in the Champions League last 16) and we were booed because we deserved it. Today the players left the pitch after losing at home and they were applauded because they deserved it, so we keep trying, trying, trying," Mourinho said.

"What was the score? This (holding three fingers up). What is this also? Three Premierships I have won, more Premierships than the other 19 managers put together. Me three, them two," he said. "Respect, respect, respect." [source]

He's an embarrassment to a club with prestige like Manchester United.

An embarrassing statement of course, but he knew exactly what he was doing. Needed to go that extreme to take attention away from those shit players. In a way, nicely done.

And made the club a bigger laughing stock as a result, however.

I don't think he did, it's just himself. And even so, that doesn't matter (to him, and possibly the players). He's no longer a great coach, but absolutely no one is talking about the players. I *kind of* respect that way of handling backlash - he knows he'll get ridiculed and doesn't give a damn as long as the players are safe.

Well, that's you. I find his reaction more troll-worthy than the 3-0 loss.

And that was the point. Completely took attention away from the real things, just like Ozil's racism accusation. This is a magnificent bit of media management.

I totally understand what you're saying but I'm still of the opinion that the average Man Utd will be trolled harder as a result of this by his non-ManU friends than he would have had Mourinho not made a total fool out of himself.

Not that I mind, by the way

Ok that was embarrassing. But he doesn't care. He will get sacked. Get a nice sum of money while doing nothing and then when he feels like it, he can decide to take a job again. And someone will employ him. Doesn't need to worry. Being a football manager is very stressful but getting sacked and finding another job is not one of them. :P
