I like what they're doing. Pep is basically building a completely new team since he took over. A strong team that can be among the bests for many years to come. They are mainly signing very good young players but no top stars.

I think Pep wants to have a similar transfer policy than Bayern, but he had to build his own Bayern first.

Most valuable teams according to transfermarkt:

1.Barcelona 954,50M.
2.Real Madrid 858,50M.
3.Manchester City 807,50M.
4.PSG 784,75M.
5.Manchester United 741,50M.
6.Chelsea 700,75M.
7.Tottenham 678,00M.
8.Atletico Madrid 648,00M.
9.Bayern Münich 642,50M.
10.Juventus 563,80M.

Idk, he can't buy players that can't be bought, but he's buying all the available stars.

The Premier League relegation battle will be tense this season with just six points between 8 teams.

That really means nothing

What "stars" has Pep bought since becoming City coach? He's bought good players, but no stars.

Cause no one can deny he's spending big, but no one can deny either that just because it's Manchester City they will always be asked for more money than any other club except probably PSG

Or just to put it in a different perspective

Which ManCity player would be a definite starter in Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern? Not many

We should probably also understand that talking about Barca's youth system is VERY different than MCFC's. So to say "why sign big players when you can promote someone from the academy" when at Barca is not even close to the same as being at MCFC. Who in MCFC's youth system is ready to make a difference in competing for multiple trophies?

They're just a bunch of average joes without the mastermind... just like Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Neuer, Schweini and etc were... their talents were hard to spot but luckily there was this mastermind...

'Most valuable teams' means nothing... RM, Barca have the most valuable teams, give me a break, it's their managers, man, their managers are the most valuable. Pep only manages teams that are in top 3, that means nothing, they're just a bunch of avarage joes without him, OK?

That's exactly what I'm saying.

Good but not TOP players. At least they were not top when City bought them

Laporte
Mendy
Walker
Bernardo Silva
Ederson
Danilo
Stones
Sane
Gabriel Jesus
Guendogan

Those are Pep's biggest transfers so far in 2 years.

It's safe to say that few of those players would make the Bayern/Madrid/Barcelona starting lineup yet City is currently on top of everything.

They are good, they are young and they are playing good football and about to win some important trophies

Kevin de Bruyne yes.
Sane maybe
Aguero no chance

Anyways, from those 3 only Sane was bought by Pep.

My point is that we are criticising someone because he is spending big and it seems easy to win titles and break records like that... but then none of his transfers would make the starting lineup in our teams :D
