I'd say it is very much expected after hugely humiliating consecutive losses.

True. But I guess it's easier to fire the manager than to sell the players.

It is, but to be fair, AVB didn't show any player-management skills from the time he took over Chelsea.

Some media sources speculated about this sacking a few weeks ago and continued their guesswork to include potential replacement managers. The one that interested me was Marcelo Bielsa. I'd really like to see him in the Premier League. I think he could turn Spurs around too. Imagine a Spurs v Chelsea encounter if he and Mourinho were head to head.

(For anyone who has never taken much notice of Bielsa: Guardiola described him about a year ago as the best coach in the world. He is even more obsessive and analytical than Guardiola, and is said to have the largest football video library in the world.)

Quite a good read on the demise of AVB, and written some two weeks before the end. It is also an interesting read for several other points beyond AVB and Spurs.

Lucky for Chelsea the game against Arsenal would not be this weekend. Their players would be knackered.

FT now! Sunderland 2-1 Chelsea AET

A whole Asian team plays against Bayern, and gets dominated.

An Asian player plays against Chelsea, and scores a 119th minute winner.

Priceless!

Looks like the Capital One Cup semis will be Man U vs Sunderland and Man C vs West Ham. What a horrible first half of a season for Spurs...

Damn Suarez' goals... 200k a week. Worth every penny. Although, I was surprised he signed a long-term contract.
