Honestly Sterling is an example he played well in about two games for liverpool and is seen as the next big thing even though all he does is run at a full back a similar thing can be said about oxlaide-chamberlain. I hope these prove me wrong but to me they look average.

Aside from Wilshere who seems to have been trained in Spain, I find that most of those young English players seem to be in top shape & are fast on their feet but lack the finer aspects of the game that they teach elsewhere.. A guy like Walcott for example came out of the youth ranks with so much hype but he was nothing more than a bonified Sprinter that decided to play football but he seems to be slowly getting better at a lot of things since he has been playing for the senior team.. I can't really see the difference between the period that has groomed the likes of Lampard, Terry, Gerard, Beckham, Carrick, Ferdinand, Hargreaves & such compared to the reality of the situation today..

I agree many of these talented English players dont have much to offer in terms of creativity, vision, and technique. Its shocking to see second tier players going for €10m+ which is just unheard of in all top 3 European leagues. I think the fact that Andy Carroll is the most expensive English player at €35m pretty much sums up the state of English football, i dont want to sound like a broken record...

plus we seem reluctant to change and give the younger players a chance at the world cup in 2010 we saw a young germany side which werent expected to do as well as they did thats one of the reasons they're so good now. Whereas England cant let go of this generation which should have won something maybe euro 2004 just sticking with lampard and terry i think both those players are overrated as well even in their prime.

Just look at this numbers and tell me your head isn't shaking: (squad from soccerway.com)

EPL Top 4 Squad:
Arsenal: 5 English/ 25 players (20%)
Chelsea: 6 English/ 29 players (21%)
Manchester City: 8 English/ 26 players (31%)
Manchester United: 15 English/33 players (45%)

La Liga Top 4 Squad:
Atletico Madrid: 10 Spanish/ 23 players (43%)
FC Barcelona:14 Spanish/ 23 players (61%)
Real Madrid: 12 Spanish/ 24 players (50%)
Real Sociedad: 17 Spanish/ 26 players (65%)

Bundesliga Top 4 Squad:
Bayer Leverkusen: 19 Germans/ 30 players (63%)
Borussia Dortmund: 16 Germans/ 25 players (64%)
FC Bayern München: 14 Germans/ 27 players (51%)
Schalke 04: 14 Germans/ 27 players (51%)

A lot of people are saying the top clubs shouldn't be blamed for the lack of talent of the English NT squad. But who else have the resources to develop talent than a club with money to invest? Not to mention that players from lower table teams are more often times ignored. We see that most often players from the top teams are picked to play for their country.

What's happening is the English clubs are letting the world develop the players then they buy them when they're ready. The problem now is, as what is happening is, they're not luring in the best talents and prospects. In the long run, this will have a big effect because the level of talent will decrease and the clubs will be significantly less competitive especially in the European tournaments. \:D/ Thus, it might have a better effect with the clubs turning to their local talent instead.

Oh well that's their problem. :dante: \:D/

Piers Morgan is probably the most universally loathed jackoff on the planet.

I actually like him, but whatever, maybe I'm just an oddity. That or I don't know EXACTLY why people hate him.

Wenger once again showing how capable he is by leading Arsenal to a 1-3 loss to Aston Villa on opening day. To add the proverbial cherry on top Koscielny who is regarded highly by a few was sent off

Arsenal's loss gives them an early advantage in the race for fourth place though. :)
