L-ewwel plejers barranin ta’ Napoli kienu Maltin [source]

very interesting article.
First foreigners to play for Napoli were Maltese, more interesting fact is that against Palermo the latter had another Maltese player (the famous Ruggieru Friggieri) his nick was iz-zibga.
It is said that Friggieri had so many medals that on occasion he lent some of them to other less fortunate members of the team. Judging by the photograph it must have been an ordeal for him to prepare himself for a photo session.

Friggieri's collection has survived intact.

It can now be seen in a frame at the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes in Floriana where they are kept with those of other famous players for safe-keeping and as a reminder of the good old days of football in the locality.

He died at 39...

No idea. It's possible that they're loaning. I don't know much about the project but from what I heard a few weeks ago they're planning to add more floors to the Tigne (The Point) complex which they will then rent out for establishments to recoup the money and make a profit.

Replay (Net Television)
21 hrs ·
Replay (Net Television) jinsab infurmat li jinsab qrib li jseħħ it-trasferiment tal-midfielder avvanzat Andrea Borg ma' West Bromwich Albion.

Riċentament hu kien qed jilgħab għal Peterborough United, fejn saħansitra kien deskritt miċ-Chairman Darragh MacAnthony bħala "the Maltese Messi."

Hu mistenni li l-plejer għall-bidu jifforma parti mid-Development Squad tal-iskwadra, qabel eventwalment jiġi aggregat mal-iskwadra prinċipali jekk ikollu prestazzjonijiet pożittivi.

Can't say for now...
One is currently playing in Malta the other in Estonia. The latter used to play here.

There are others being monitored ...

The focus is on one who plays for Coventry and before his injury Crystal palace placed and offer of 8Million for him.

His agent is telling him to refuse the Maltese advances as he has a chance to play for England

My Maltese team seems to have signed former Bundesliga (Hertha Berlin) striker Solomon Okoronkwo.

In a friendly today he scored a hat trick in a 6-0 win.

Some of our players enjoying a replay of our last final win. Maltese football has many flaws but its one beautiful thing is the close first name basis relationship between the players and supporters.

The secret I've known for a while has been revealed now so I can mention it. One of our new forwards has made plenty of appearances for Juventus's second team, won titles there, played in the Europa League and for the French youth national teams. A big signing for the Maltese league.

Unfortunately an agreement was not reached with the former Hertha Berlin player I mentioned above but that guy was old anyway. This one is still 22.

What a way to end a 9 year winless streak vs Valletta! Our last victory was in the 2009 cup final, on penalties. We've only drawn 2 or 3 times in the dozens of games since.

Valletta: worst start to the league out of all defending champions in Europe?

Top of the table!

Glad to see this is official. I knew about the plans.

There is a LOT of unused space in the club facilities, not just the indoor pitches but also many completely empty rooms. The addition of the two floors I don't fully agree with, but based on what I had heard from club officials the increase in revenue from them would be enormous. It would put Sliema two classes above the rest of Maltese clubs in terms of money available.

This is an important early step. The ultimate goal is professionalisation.
